Omega General Help / Re: Front ride height?
« on: 16 January 2008, 13:52:27 »
Not self leveling a fasr as i'm aware.  That was an elite thing wasn't it?.

Rear ride heights on an unladen estate also welcome then.

Omega General Help / Front ride height?
« on: 16 January 2008, 12:42:46 »
Could one or two of you possibly measure the front ride height of your Omegas for me please?  Best done through center line of wheel to the wheel arch vertically.
I think either mine has sunk a bit, or the springs are weak (unlikely it's been lowered) as I keep scraping the front air dam on the downside of speed bumps, and it just in general looks a bit "nose down"
Thanks.

Omega General Help / Re: Weird error code on 2.0
« on: 16 January 2008, 12:55:00 »
So 10 = 0.

Beige is the new grey

And according to my 2 year old 3 is the new 2

No wonder i'm confused.  Thanks for putting me right.

Omega General Help / Weird error code on 2.0
« on: 16 January 2008, 12:37:29 »
My Dad's 97 mini facelift 2.0 has started showing the EML light.
Doing the paperclip test with the engine running just left the EML permanantly on  :-?
With the engine not running, the light started flashing, but not as expected e.g. starting with code 12.  It did this
10 flashes, then 3 flashes, then 4 flashes, then 10 flashes
and then repeated the sequence :-?

Now that's just weird.  Any ideas?

I was going to look at getting a radiator from the UK but can not afford to wait for about month or so without a car. ;D

You are used to GM's parts department then  ;D

Hi Wayne,

You could try "Trye-Ryte" they are in Marsh road, Cowley by the Oxford City Council works depot  :y What sort of music do you play, I'm into "Jean Michel Jarre"

I saw JMJ in the docklands (too) many years ago.  Good stuff

From what i can remember it was a good concert  :y

it was although memory is fading - must be best part of 20 years ago! oh naff..

Destination Docklands ermmm... 1989 me thinks, was very young then ;D

Yes I had a couple of tickets for that concert, but could not go  :'( :'( :'(, but I did get to see him just before Wembley was pulled down  :) :) and man was he good   ;):y :y

Omega General Help / Element V canister oil filters
« on: 05 January 2008, 01:42:52 »
My new facelift barge has the replacable element type oil filter.  Now I recall from an old thread that it is possible to fit a conversion kit so screw on canister filters can be used.  As these are aprox 1/3 the cost of an element, assuming I keep the thing for longer than a year, is it worth doing?  Why did Vx change filter type and is one any better than the other in the real world?

Oh and does anyone remember the part no.  or cost and source of the conversion kit?

I would say an air leak.

My V6 has been stalling a bit on LPG in the extreme cold weather, but a re-map seemed to solve this tonight :)
I reckon that you've done more maps than Ordnance Survey  :D

Omega General Help / Wandering idle speed
« on: 17 December 2007, 00:36:57 »
Out and about today I noticed that the idle speed was sitting at 500 rpm (V6) then climbing to 1500 / RPM for a while then dropping back to 1000 rpm.
No error lights or strange noises and drove OK

My suspicion is ICV, or possibly an air leak, but couldn't hear anything whistling when i looked under the bonnet with the engine running.

Any thoughts?

Is it viable  / easy to remove and refit the glass in the tailgate of an estate?
