Hi and welcome to the forum :y

Sounds like the oil cooler has gone too me
I'll check it out tomorrow, before I go the whole hog and take off the heads. The thing is that there is steam coming out of the exhaust, would this still happen if it was the oil cooler? Sorry for going off at a tangent, this was supposed to be a newbie post...

Welcome to OOF :y I would highly doubt the head gasket has gone, rare as hens teeth unless it was run for a long time overheated, more likely to be the oil cooler.
It's been loosing coolant like you wouldn't believe, the oil filler cap and spout is full of mayo and the oil is like something out of Willy Wonka's factory! The temp gauge never went above 90 so I'm guessing it's the head gasket, I hope it is anyway as the engine is now in pieces  :-/

Hello everyone,

Just taken ownership of a 1998 Omega 3.0 V6 Elite last week from my Dad who had owned it for the last 7 years.  He always said that when he got a new car he would give me the Omega, and true to his word, he has. I have been after it for years! The only problem is that he had to get a new car through necessity as the head gasket has gone on the Omega, it's just as well I like a challenge!

Anyway, here she is:

Looking forward to getting to know you all and getting some sound advice!

That looks great , mine is the same year but not in as good a condition , grill looks nice as well , good job done there, and yes you do look a proud owner and so you should  :)

Take care

Dave :y
She is in very good condition but there are some areas of bodywork that do need sorting out, which will all be done in time, as for the grill, it was on the car when my dad bought it 8 years ago. Apparently is was a Vauxhall Directors car when new so had a few added extra bits included. :y

Now that my mig is all fixed and working well I thought I would give it a quick wash and wax and took some pics to show her off. I hope you like it!

The guy in the background is my Dad, he is her pervious owner and I am so grateful that he has given it to me....

Do I look like a proud owner?

Took the Mig in for it's MOT today and they failed it on the n/s washer jet which was just dribbling out and the rear number plate, apparently it had delaminated! I couldn't believe it, how picky can you get!  >:(

However, within 30 mins I had been to my local auto factors and had some new plates made up and while they were being done I popped home and cleared the washer jet with my air line..... all sorted and MOT passed!  :y
did you have to pay for retest :o :o
No mate, it was free, to be honest they didn't even really look at it. They could see that I had new plates on so that was good enough for them I guess.
