No, no confidence, given it has a pretty substantial service history and ownership.

Must add that car run's rough on idle, misfires and gets MIL/ems light on, but when driving it runs fine,

Gearbox seems to be slipping at 5,000.....That linked to HG prob?

Umm last HG was done at 60,000 approx 3 years ago,

Car is constantly overheating, once pressure has been released out of the coolant system its fine.

Head has been changed at some point, only just found out that its a 2.0 head!  :'(

Omega General Help / Oil in coolant...
« on: 11 April 2011, 17:28:09 »
ARRRRGGGGHHH Afternoon all!

Found Oil in my coolant tank today, car has been misfiring on cylinder 1 and cylinder 4.
Massive built up of pressure in cooling system.

Indication of headgasket failing??
Even though headgasket was changed 20,000 miles ago ?

Omega General Help / Heating isn't hot
« on: 26 March 2011, 16:55:46 »
Hi, been fiddling around all day with this heating issue, i've just about tried everything in the engine bay.

Heating is just not getting hot, I know its not the matrix blocked, I have just replaced the control valve,

There is a vacuum pipe that goes through the bulk head, right by the matrix pipes, Does anyone know where this goes to or is connected to??

I occasionally get some heating but it soon vanishes, Is this the fault or is there something else I should be giving more attention to??

I know its almost summer and won't be needing it, but want it working for next Winter  :D

Omega General Help / Re: Windscreen washer not working
« on: 19 March 2011, 17:24:40 »
Hey, Last time I had an Issue with the washers not working on my Omega was due to the pump, If you can hear the pump running then it is more likely to be something like scale dislodged.
My previous Omega also has that issue, im not sure if its due the fact there is lack of filters in the Vauxhall washer systems,??

Omega General Help / Crankshaft Sensor problem.
« on: 19 March 2011, 17:31:41 »
Hi, fault code reading today is showing Engine Speed Input Circuit No Signal, Last week it was Output Speed Sensor Circuit Range/Performance.

Is this meaning just a dodgy Crankshaft sensor, or am just totally barking up the wrong tree???  :)

Omega General Help / Re: 2.2 Coil Pack removal

Haha, its ok Malcolm, you're welcome to stay put!!

The Invoice I have states Cam belt change, and head gasket change, doesn't say anything about replacing head?!!

Well there certainly isn't a price for it anyway, ive taken a few pictures of the coil pack area but not sure how to load pics on here???

It did have the head changed, at a Garage about 3 years ago, Before I had it mind !!  ;)

Is a 2.0 head going to make much difference to the car? other than bolt threads for coil pack??

Does make sense if 2.0 has dispac. the coil pack at the moment has two wires running off the two bolts to the battery,

I knew it wasn't right,

Cheers also Zulu for the link on changing spark plugs, Clearly see the thread holes are there!

Hi, and cheers for the welcome :) ive looked over this coil pack, there are two bolt hole in the top and thats it, not even a thread hole in the actual engine block, which I presumed the coil would be bolted to.

its basically just sat in there just bobbing around etc  :-/

My last Vauxhall (2000 Astra 1.6) had four bolts holding it in, just as you described with your dad's Vectra.

Vauxhall say this is how its should be, although most of the tech guys at my local dealer were still in Nappies when this Omega was produced  ;D

Omega General Help / 2.2 Coil Pack removal
« on: 09 March 2011, 21:50:19 »
Hi, I'm having problems with misfire on Cylinder one, Being told its a problem with coil pack, I how ever am not convinced it is, if you remove the coil pack and put back in it is totally fine!!

Basically want to know how these coil packs should be fitted to the engine??

There is a EcoTec Cover holding it in place, is this right?? there are no threads for bolts in the engine block, just wiring earthing the coil pack.

Never seen this before on a Vauxhall, im totally at stumped with it.

Anyone care to check out their Z22SE coil pack fittings and let me know  :D

Cheers All  :y

I have two, A Gunson and a Draper Expert, both of which say the same thing.

Its just working out what is sending this over fueling signal, it typically happens if moving the car out the drive way, etc, short pointless runs,

But however, restarting it runs perfect! I'm down to headbanging!

Hi, I am also confused with this, I was told Omega's ECU only wipes codes after several clean starts,

I have an Issue with my Omega at the moment, Most times on starting its over fueling, flooding and failing to start.

Yet connecting Fault reader displays nothing, even though dash warning light was on and limp home mode activated?!

When I bought the car it was displaying Bank 1 Sensor 3 Lambda sensor, not had this since.

Confused much! Any ideas?
