He must of had a couple of Republican judges appointed by him vote against him.

They did, and that is why he said "I am deeply disappointed by some members"

Great!  It is about time this boastful, bombastic, bully of a bastard is brought under control 8) 8)

My quote on Trump was not entirely correct.  He also said he was “deeply ashamed by some members of the court”. ; in other words, the Republican members of it that voted against his policy  >:D

Certain police forces in the UK are already using facial recognition.  The retail sector are also using facial recognition CCTV systems to identify those that have been found to shoplift in the past.  These systems will now spread, and frankly, why not?

Only those that have something to hide, or have been found guilty of crime should fear this.  If we have nothing to hide, and are honest citizens, these systems can only assist us, the police and any service industries, in keeping us safe and free from crime.  As a side issue, but a very important one, is that as a retired senior retail manager I know how much shoplifting / criminality on retail premises cost us, the public.  Losses are transferred onto the prices we pay, and staff lose their jobs because of the costs of criminality that business has to cover, and cannot.

Welcome to the 21st century >:D ;)

………
It was my 'A' series engine that laid a real, thick, blue smoke trail, every time I deaccelerated then accelerated, until that uncle taught how to replace the very worn and broken valves!! :o :o ;D ;D ;)

The problem here was that the valve stem rubber seals would become hard and would start riding up and down on the valve stem, instead of staying in the recess designed to hold them in place. On my van, I used to lay a smoke trail deliberately, by doing what you describe, if someone was sat too close behind me.  ;D

With my A40 the problem was two valves had chunks missing out of them and as a 10year old car, in those days, it was worn out!  It also had a body that was not attached to the chassis as the sills and cross members, especially under the passenger seat, had rotted away, with holes in the wings.  It still passed the MOT twice though!! >:D  That car was a bargain as it cost me just £30, which I recouped when someone knocked on my door and offered me £30 for the number!  8) ;D ;)  Great days indeed! :)

A mate of mine is doing an EV conversion on an old Morris Minor based post office van.

The one I saw the other week was a green Morris Minor van, with the blue smoke, so not electric! ;D ;D

Nice to hear that some have survived in any form, even though, if they were like my A40, they should be a pile of rust by now :D ;)
Battery fires smoke like a chimney  >:D

Actually, my first van at British Smellycom was a Morris with an A series.

What memories! ;D ;D ;)

Bring back the green (painted) GPO Austin and Morris vans, with 'A' series engines! >:D >:D

I was thinking about those the other week, and then amazingly I saw a pre-1962 example going along around our way, still in GPO green! 8) 8)

I once had the benefit of being given great advice by one of my ex's uncles who was about to retire as the senior mechanic of the GPO's maintenance section in London.  He very quickly taught me how to strip down the 'A' series engine of my Austin A40, replace the valves, and rebuild.  What he didn't know about those vehicles wasn't worth knowing! :D :)

AND  one thing we are all curious to know is ,did you ever ring the garage about their "quote" ?
just to see what they said !

No I didn't, as after obtaining the great valued advice on here, I realised I would be wasting my time in doing so.  How could they explain the fact that they quoted for standard shocks, not self levelling ones without coming out with a daft quote for the correct ones that now seem unobtainable! ::) ::) :-X

I will just clean everything down when the warmer, dryer, weather comes later in the year :)

I have to agree with you Lizzie, that “the older you get the less confidence you have”. And daft questions have been my forté over the years.

Not only that, but one (that will be me) is far less flexible in the ‘under-car’ department. And I also know (to my cost !!) what can go horribly wrong when you do the wrong thing, or your ambition exceeds your ability!

Don’t start me on arthritis in the hands!!!

Good on you LZ  :y
And with a little guidance, look what you achieved on your engine Dave G :y.  Thats what forums are about.

And that is what is important.  I am a Machiavellian, so I believe in the ends justifies the means.  That is in the case of us and our Omega's, what are "silly" questions to some, but can be asked on this great Forum, result in the right ending; a valued and loved Omega continuing to give us a lovely journey every time! 8) 8) ;)

“ The media love all this mayhem, and in many ways encourage it.  Ask the average person on a UK street and their worries are primary about the NHS, energy bills, grocery costs, council rates, etc, NOT about the mistake Starmer has made “

Spot on. Then when it comes to an election there are bandwagon of issues over which the actual election is fought.

Indeed Varche :y

Am I alone in thinking that unless the politics change dramatically to a more “simple” situation as we used to have, before the next series of elections, we have never had in our time such a complicated and diverse range of views to consider.?

In the old days it was simply Labour verses Conservatives, or the reverse, with the Liberals there somewhere, having standard, straightforward and predictable policies to discuss and then vote on.  Harold Wilson on the Left and Edward Heath on the Right.  Simples.  But now we have the old two main parties in free fall, and an extreme Right wing, untested, lacking honest candidates, party promising the Earth, but with very real dangers in their small print.  As for the other parties, they are there now to confuse and dilute the worth of voting for what were the main parties!  Oh my goodness!  What an awful mess that could easily send our country further down the path of destruction! >:(

In the main, yes. But there are people who would still vote for Nigel if he had a swastika tattooed on his forehead.

And that is what really worries me Steve.  ::) ;)

Rumours circulating that Epstein is alive & has been seen abroad , nothing would surprise me, so much corruption & so many big names allegedly involved so moved him out .

Ah, another Lord Lucan or Elvis Presley scenario >:D >:D
