Cars for Sale & wanted / Re: Low mileage 3.2 MV6 Wanted
« on: 09 October 2012, 13:18:25 »
.....
I already have an 2.6 Elite which I'm looking to sell for repair/spare (I'll post another thread for it in here). I drove my mate's 3.2 MV6 and I liked it lot more than mine in terms of power, handling and interior.

Not until you have the required postcount for selling :y
208 to go  ::) ::) ::)

 ;D I know that's a lot. But don't you worry...as I'm gonna buy another Omega I'll keep posting for a while  ;).

Cheers.

I'm looking to own a 3.2 MV6 Automatic Saloon. Got to be a low mileage one.

Please PM me if you have one to sell.

A well lookeed after 'high milage' is generally better than an unloved, uncared for low milage car. Milage isn't the B all & end all,  :y  :y and you'll find people's cars here have anything from 'low milage' to 250k miles plus  ;) ;)

You're absolutely right. Mileage is a kind of rule of thumb scale to measure how knackered a car is and obviously it is not absolute IMO. I reckon I can't have a that low mileage one as most of the miggys are at least 8-10 years old  by now.

TBH if a car has too low mileage I'll be suspicious about that one - was the driver reluctant to drive it? Why (it's such a lovely car to drive)? If the driver was reluctant to drive it then very likely he was reluctant to maintain it as well. I will try to steer clear from such cars.

Does it have to be an MV6?

So my mate was pretty much right. I'm gonna check it and post the update.

Omega General Help / Water in spark plugs?
« on: 08 October 2012, 14:13:06 »
My miggy (2001 2.6 Elite Auto with 104K miles) vibrates a lot on cold start. It seems really rough in lower rev range, the upper rev range (4k+) seems normal. If I leave it running for 10-15 minutes, it drives OK after it gets warmed up. However, after driving it for a while it starts to vibrate a lot when idle.

It doesn't loose any coolant and a mate suspects water in plug hole. What you guys reckon?

Update: Forgot to add that engine management light comes on intermittently and the codes are 0300 and 0305 which I reckon is misfire in cylinder 5.

Hi if you can get over to me I have a front bumper from a cdx which has a couple of bits that will need a rub down, but as you are repainting it will be done anyway. I also have the hard plastic /foam bit that sits on the inside of the bumper. You can have both free of charge..

Just to give you some idea i changed mine over for a mv6 bumper which i had to fill rub down and respray materials, it cost me about £75 and then just my time in doing it. You could have a go yourself its not hard it just takes patients as prep work is key. :y

cheers Paul.

Hi Paul...just pm'd you.

Someone on here does them , cant remember who though unless someone else can ... quite recently a repair was done to a front bumper that was split in a few places then resprayed  ;)

You must've seen the photos I posted. Do you reckon it can fixed without fitting a new one?

From what i can see i think it would be better having a fresh start as it looks too far gone tbh , if repaired it could eventually split costing you more in time ... there is a post on here where the guy showed us repair pictures stage by stage ...

OK...I'll try to find the post. Looking at ebay at the moment and found a few guys breaking their Omegas (in black, silver etc though). Trying to contact them to haggle.

I would get any colour bumper and stick it on for now , then save up and get it sprayed ... at least you will be able to use the car . Maybe even rub the paint off it or key it ready for paint to save money  ;) if it was a silver one im sure you would have no trouble getting one  :y

Thanks for your suggestions. That's exactly what I'm thinking now. When I bought the car didn't realise that it's such a rare one. Do you have any idea approx how much it might cost to respray the bumper?

It's been quite a while and still haven't found any golden bumper in decent condition. I've been keeping an eye on the ebay but no luck. A forum member suggested to fit bumper of another colour and respray it but that might be too expensive for me. Is there any other option I should look at?

Thanks all.

Father in law tended to use the bumpers as parking sensor

 ;D thats hilarious ;D

....

Yes, it seems golden is kinda rarer than other colours.  :(

Some would say that's a bonus!  ::) ::) ;) ;) :y

I like the colour though, it looks really nice when it's washed and in sun  8). Now I hope I will find the parts. I've been kicking myself since Monday for being stupid enough to drove it back into somebody else.

Hi all...

I need to replace the front bumper and bonnet on my 2001 2.6 Elite. I'm in Bedford. Also looking for someone who can fit them.

Headlamp trim doesnt look broken to me but if it is I would think you wouldnt pay more than a tenner for one.Headlamp washer probably £15-20.
Your biggest problem may be finding parts in the correct colour. ;)
