Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: line output compatibility
« on: 18 March 2008, 22:10:23 »
Thanks again Dave.
So your saying it can be done using one of these leads and some 'wiring' . Is this something that can be done to this lead in advance and then simply plug into hu of my choice .... getting confused now !

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / New head unit for Bose system
« on: 15 March 2008, 22:27:53 »
Hi  - hope someone out there can help with this.
Have Omega Elite (2001) with Phillips CCR2006 double din head unit and the Bose amp / speaker system. Sounds great - well it did until the CD player broke - local car audio fitter assures me the cd unit is virtually beyond repair ... he's aleady spent several hours trying to mend and has thrown in the towel ( mechanism problems ).
No problem i thought as i fancy a new head unit with mp3 options, usb, aux in etc. and dont mind going to single din etc.
So he fits one ... and then discovers a sound quality problem !
Reckons he's been supplied wrong lead to run from unit to Bose amp.
I'm now waiting to hear if his supplier has a connector lead to do the job.

So i've tried to look into this myself and i'm getting impression there's and issue with the compatability between new head units and the Bose amp ? something to do with bose needing lower input level..
Is this correct ? if so what are my options.. apart from a bose configured replacement original hu ?

Please help ?

Omega General Help / clutch overheated ?
« on: 04 July 2009, 19:31:04 »
Hope someone can advise whether my clutch is just over heated or worn out ?
Been messing around practising reversing and testing turnig circle etc with trailer and rear bike rack - in readiness for camping hols in 2 weeks.
So i'd been riding the clutch for a fair bit. Anyway it started to smell a bit so stopped.

Now the clutch pedal is a stiff as hell and i cant engage any gears except when engine is off.

Thought id let it cool down overnight and try it again tomorrow.

Would appreciate opinions as to state of clutch / gearbox.

Its a 2.2dti manual by the way.

Cheers

Omega General Help / diy service for an old gal.?
« on: 04 April 2009, 23:37:59 »
Hi all.
Mines a 2001 2.2 dti Elite with nearly 160,000 on the clock !
I do 120 miles a day ( mainly motorway to and from work ).
She's absolutely lovely cruising but feeling a bit tired and noisy eleswhere. Puta is telling me jst over 40 mpg average which i guess is pretty good still ? I realy should get a good service done but money is very tight.  ( or rather i am lately ) !!
Is there any way i can make her feel a bit 'tighter' in low gears ? In 3rd and 4th the turbo seems excellent still and responds great. But like i say seems tired when pulling away in 1st / 2nd.

Getting annoying vibration from door panel, side pockets when idling ( idles at about 600rpm and i'd like to pick it up to 800 ish ).

Also im puzzled about temperature. Gauge is never above 80-85.
Is that normal ? Is she not getting up to correct running temp ?

Read some comments about cleaning out hoses, vales etc.
Any thoughts as to how i can bring some life back into her ?

Stuck half a bottle of Redex in today and it might be my imagination but seemed more responsive.

I'd like to make a difference myself raather than hand over 200 or so quid to vauxhall for an oil change and a bit of grease slapped here and there ! know what i mean ???

Omega General Help / Re: my knobs are driving me mad !!
« on: 03 April 2008, 20:32:09 »
vibrating knobs all sorted !!
couple of wraps of black insulation tape neatly round each knob did the job. Barely noticable too.
Ahhh  - silence bliss !
