Omega General Help / 2.5 TD power increase

Just wondering if anyone knows the best way to get back the power in the BMW engine that has been detuned in the Omega. Is it just a case of changing the mapping chip or is it more involved? Cheers for any advice.

According to the owners manual the X25DT is auto bleedling by cranking it for max 10 seconds the waiting 5 secs then trying at this pace until it starts then let engine run at high speed for 30 secs to fully bleed.
The X20DTH engine has a complicated system required to bleed the system because of the very high injection pressure and must be carried out by a Vx dealership!!!

I ment to say as well that there are obviously some bits of the impellor missing I have removed all the parts that I can find so hopefully no other bits will make it back round and cause further problems!! :-/

Finaly got round to removing waterpump and it came out in many pieces
so hopefully this will be the only problem.Will try and get new one tomorrow as well as a new stat. Are there any better aftermarket pumps to be got or is it original

You need to remove intake plastic bit (with Turbo Diesel on), unscrew viscous from waterpump (32mm, left hand thread, and a bugger if it hasn't been off for a while), then remove the plastic shroud around fan.
I've done it a few times, takes about 2 mins if it goes well, or hours if the fan is a barsteward, and you are missing the water pump lock tool.
Fan came off OK but looks as if the stat is working it opens when placed in boiling water :-/ will replace since I have come this far.
Any ideas what to look at next?

TB Sorry to read about the problems you are having with your own TD.
I can now see where the stat is but can't see how to remove the viscous fan or do I need to remove the rad before this is possible.

Thanks TB I assume it will be ok to drive after removing the stat to check that it is not overheating again untill I can get a replacement one.

Help please!!
Car has started overheating ie. the temp goes off the scale and the car looses all power. Stop for a couple of minutes and the temp drops to about 95 drive off and have power back temp then goes up again and power drops. This happened after only driving about 3-4 miles. Thought it might have been a sticky stat but can't find it, any ideas where it should be in the 2.5TD BMW engine? Thanks in advance for any sugestions.

Not sure about your model but in mine (2.5 TD) it is Fuse 14 and it's 30A

Thanks TB Looks like it may be the fuel pump as it won't start at all now 
. Getting voltage to the pump but can't hear it running (not sure if I would though) and getting high resistance about .4 - .5 Meg Ohm accross the pump but again not sure again what it should be but I would have thought it would be much lower that this.

Hello all
Driving home after a day out the car suddenly lost power and I noticed that the temerature gague had shot right up (normally runs about 90) and its light came on. I stopped as soon as I could and checked coolant level which was OK and no pressure in the header tank. On restarting the engine the car revved to just under 2K and dropped back down to normal idle and the engine light came on. Now it is hit or miss if the light comes on or not (more often on) and it always rev up first. Cheepo Tech 2 will not connect to ECU to read codes (2.5 TD BMW engine) but did alow me to reset airbag light. Any help greatly appreciated.
