Omega General Help / coolent loss places to look
« on: 05 April 2014, 01:30:45 »
ok bit long not long ago my 3l elite min face lift ago my aux belt tentioner decided to jam and take betd out  up ended up needing a new a radiator as well it did get very hot blew on duel carage way at 110 lepton

I was paranoid about head and engine but stuck a mot tester prob i there and was neg so seemed head was fine
done a good few 1000 miles since

but still cant get the dam thing water tight and forever filling header tank once every say 300 mile its losing a head tank full

but has new radiator it aint the hbv that's dry as a bone and been done its not the matrix not long put one after it blew
also the coolant hose to the coolant bridge between heads i did bodged it a bit with some pipe from motor factors rather than get shaped hose
so it is possible its that but im a bit worried

car just failed on rot but could be welded for a few hundred and also failed on fooked handbrake  no movement probably just seized

car is on 114 thousand ad in good nick apart from back arched and bumper could do with a respray its mint and i dont really want to part with it
but the rub is im bit worried about coolant leack and engine and where to look for coolant leak

ie hoping its bodged coolant bridge hose or oil cooler plate

other tjhan that thinking of possible leak location its got me think maybe that back pipe at back of enging thats hard to get at and i dont know how to do that or a core plug i cant do

anything im missing ?

ideas of where too look

one other thik re manase inn oil filler neck syndrome i don't know if my imagination  but there seems to be more in there of late and i do drive luton to essex and back twice
a week so it always getting a good run

Omega General Help / Re: ABS ECU Problem
« on: 03 May 2013, 05:50:37 »
i tell him hes a pleb and i want money back hour and a half max to remove and refit ecu if that with many Coffey and fags and gasing
no way id pay for 8hours labour on that while he scratch his ass working what to undo

he dint know what he was doing

remover battery fuse box pass ress un do round connector plugs and any wires in way loosen nuts on abs unit and lift gently  get m8 to undo 4 tox bolts/screwed with flexible driver while you hold it up a bit on pipes

sould have done it your self

7
dint think of core plugs

one thing i need to check when i done hbv to coolant bridge it was a bit of a bodg up as

it had split at bridge end right at hose clip i had some warter pipe with same internal  diameter but its was to shaped to use without it kinking

being in a rush to sort as i needing transport and rest of hose looking fine i just cut a inch or so off end and put back on
so it could be coming out there but cant really run it to see

so maybe if get the right one from dealers and have another look and while im in there pressure test it

buy the way which is bank two  :-[
driver or passenger side

wish i knew i news some one woth one them felxble  things

Omega General Help / Re: rusty wheel archs
« on: 29 April 2013, 21:39:04 »
yea i was more asking for opinions on how long the bog and arch cover would last  to save with cutting out welding in a arch repair panel and spraying arches and clearing the whole of wings would last

as as others have said got to do it out side and it a pain sanding and buffing out dust a fly legs
and picking the right day when it aint to humid for clear if a bit to cold i can warm up panel a bit with a heat gun

bumper if got to do i can get buy spraying but cant say i enjoy it lol

when i do bumpper i get the frount in mates garaged and soak the floor to keep dust down

im just out of pratice iv sprayed whole cars before out doors

iv got awarter trap on compressor and in line

yea 2k clear i would use 1500grit

when blendint and doing spot repiares i normaly just clean good clear and scuff pannel with a scotch pad

normally ill do a light coat of base two normal coats at 50/50  and do the final coat at 70 thinner and 30 paint

with clear ill do a tack coat two full coats and wet sand cut and pollish it
or if i want real nice ill do a wet  sand and another slightly thinned coat of clear or two then buff

wit arches i want planing to spray wing as rust aint far just fit chrome arches over repair

ill need to spray bumper spliter and bottom of back passenger door may as well do driver side sill as theirs a few scratches on it

and ill have to blend to bottom of drivers door as its a silver car for a good blend

ill usually use a filler primmer and use a gide coat and 600 grit for taking off guide coat

General Car Chat / Re: anyone been bidding on this
« on: 29 April 2013, 19:18:52 »
I was going to but I asked the seller to tell me about body condition, he just said come and have a look :-\
I explained I'm not that local and he just said ok! Needless to say I didn't bother >:(

he told me it has a tiny bit of rust on one arch and a few marks lol

i want local rather

i drove up from luton to look at it  electricaly its of no speedo probs or power steering and abs and ts light are intermitaint so sensor dirty or worieing is  my gues but

poor sod that has just one is in for a shock cause it dont look like the pics and that's for Shaw

id offered 400 cash if looked as it did in pics and was nothing he aint mentioned

he said it just had a touch of rust on arch and a few small scratchs/ marks

wheel look immaculate if had been good i was going to have alloys headlight and front bumper and a few other bit and break and scrap it

but when i saw it it want worth the bother need scraping and breaking and you would get many nice body parts off it lol

how easy are they  get at

Omega General Help / rusty wheel archs
« on: 29 April 2013, 16:07:35 »
re my arches there going but aint reall bad yet

what your guy opinions on grinding off and much rust off as possible treating with best rust stopper you can get ie stuff restorers use

filling then priming with a zink etch primer , a filer primer smoothhing out a bit and paint or spray a good underseal

then fitting some chrome/stainless arches over the top because it aint past line they would cover yet
and there a polish place on ebay that ones for omegas and seal em on with that body kit glue and caulke gun

rather fully cut em out and welding i repair paneli have and spraying wings
does sound like a sensible  plan

i have got a compressor and can get buy doing not too bad a job all be im no expert sprayer

ill spray primer and acrillic base and 1k clear but wont lay 2k and i spray with charchole mask ad aint got anywhere to do it safe or a air feed mask

so it has to be 1k or get body shop to spray 2k clear but easy to mist the clear coat window doing that
im getting too old to try the old cross your fingers hold you breath , drink lots of milk  and spray and pray way of spraying 2k now lol

13
just got  grarage to do sniffer test and it dint change coulur

so im guessing gasket must be ok

as for presure testing coolant iv not yet but i got a compressor so ill have to find a spare cap

so far re leek new radiator top hose there a not long new hbv in there and a new hbv to coolent bridge hose put on last week

i changed heater matrix as well after it burst in style few mouths back

chucked a couple of bottles in there of bright blue food die as well

still cant see naff all coming out anywhere

as head seems ok i can live with a drip/small leak but would be nice to find it
be more conclusive proof head is fine but there want no color change on sniff test

i did look at oil cooler plate but that seem fine when done hose to coolant bridge last week

im half tempted to chuck a bit of rad weld in for now but for peace of mind id like to know where it leaking from

14
yep genuine vx oil never put anything else in since i had it.
think that maybe try a sniif test but never seen em for sale anywhere
