My battery light came on one day and after getting a new one fitted
it was still on, turned out the alternator was getting a bad ground through the bolts that attached it to the engine and I made up a large guage ground wire for it. Worked a treat.

Thanks for the thread, dare i ask the thread mentioned that the passenger side was cold and the valve was on the left side of the centre consols, is the valve for the drivers side is on the right side of the console or are both on the left side??

The drivers side on my Omega (Opel) is only blowing cold air when set at any temp setting, Im freezing!! the passenger side is fine and the air vent to the rear seats is fine aswell. The vents in the centre of the dashboard are the same, left one hot, right one cold. Outside air temp sensor is working fine

Any ideas for a fix??

I got my 2000 tractor chipped last year and im thinking of buying another 2000 tractor with less miles on it.

My question is can i straight swop the ECU's or do I need to give the Opel man loads of money to tech2 it :question :question

Thanks for the replys,

Slight problem, the socket housing at the top of the oil housing is missing lol, so can't use a socket, looks like its been broken off, so its either going to be, use a filter wrench and risk destroying it, or get a new/scrappy one and destroy it

It that case it will be friggin tight, as some arsewipe mechanic has tightened it to within an inch of its life  

mine had the same problem when i got it, hex head gone off it and the cap was tight as f**k, i had to use a filter chain and i had to put sand paper between the cap and the chain for more friction cos the chain kept slipping on the plastic .

Cap came off with a lot of cussin and new onefitted

That has always puzzled me why have the intake charge temperature controlled by the rad switch? by the time the rad switch turns on the main fan and thus the IC fan the intake temp is to high forgood power anyway

Because its a stupid design!  Not sure it was done for power, and remember early ones have no fan...

nor am I but remeber later ones produced more power with the IC fan

We know the reality of having the fan, esp at lower speeds when no other airflow.

However, all Omega tractors are rated at 120bhp...

nope later ones have 134bhp std and some(ahem adjusted ones )are a lot higher than that!!!

mine shed its blades a few months ago but didn't throw its belt and didn't boil over thank god

Maybe the bearing collapsed on yours aswell, hope ur head isn't warped or cracked though

One the offside headlight manual adjusters either broke or has unthreaded itself and its insides are floping around like a drunken irishman.

my question is can the headlight be disassembled and some kind of repair work done to it, my donor car has standard lights but id imagine that the manual adjusters would be the same............

the metal covers on the lump are looking bad and i need to do something to them to make them look better but i dont know what to use. something more that a spit and polish me thinks

BTW this isnt my engine in the photo (mine isnt  that bad) but my covers are in the same condition.

Bugger, In that case I'll go for another spin tomorrow and do more tests, do the Air and Fuel thing, and report back. wont being able to get the ECU read for a while. any thing I can specificly check for while Im driving it.

pop the fuel filter off, check its full of fuel. Also worth filling fuel filter with diesel magic to clear out injectors...

would you completly fill the filter with diesel magic, or 50/50???

Word of warning... I have a set of Vx moulded mudflaps on my 2.6 and they a pain in the ar*e. Unless you are on a perfectly flat surface - e.g. motorway / dual carriageway etc. they will continually ground when you go over a bump. It doesnt do any damage (other than scrape another few mils of the bottom of the mudflap) but it is quite loud and can be very disconcerting... particularly for passengers.

 

i just fitted the front mud flaps today and found out the hard way that irish roads are not flat enough, drivers front one broke after 3 miles .

i havent fitted the rear ones and im going to take them back, nice look mind you but way to long and ur going to break them eventually.

the ones on the vectra only go around 1.5 inches under the car and still get scraped when the car bottoms out.
