Omega General Help / omega gearbox lockup
« on: 19 March 2012, 23:33:59 »
I heared that the omega gear box for the auto 3.2 stops slipping and lockas up at 50mph.  Is it possible to update / upgrade / modify the gearbox computer to get the gearbox to lock up at 30.  This would save a considerable amount of petrol and increase acceleration.  Someone was telling me that with the right software you can basiclly change the value of the lock speed from 50 to 30 and then upload the new values to the gearbox computer.  Is this possible?

It just seems like i get loads of revs and not enough movement in the car sometimes.  I know you can't really compare but the 7.5 tonne isuzu i drive for work doesnt seem to have the clutch slipping effect i seem to get on the omega.  Neither does my freinds honda accord auto.

Im gonna service it next week but i cant see how this can get the mpg from 15 town, 20 motorway to 20 town, 25 motorway.

I've got a 3.2 v6 and get 21 mpg on the motorway and 16 around town.  I never put my foot down and am actually quite carefull, always looking at the current mpg to make sure i'm driving as economical as possible.

Omega General Help / Bumps and Knocks
« on: 24 February 2012, 23:57:11 »
I just bought this omega elite 3.2 and it was amazing for about three days.  Then i started hearing all these bumps and knocks from underneath.  It only happens when i go over bumps like speed ones and pot holes, etc.  What the hell could this be?

What exactly is the 4.2 diff?
What does it do?
My car is standard so i guess its the 3.9 diff that it is fitted with.

Just fit a lower geared dif. 3.9 to 4.2 is lowest available stock. If that not enough, maybe a member here can re gear it lower again.

Is this the final drive?  Do you know how much of an incease in acceleration would be.  That would have the engine reving much higher all ound wouldn't it?  Less engine life more petrol.  But yes I would be very interested in the diff you suggested if i had more info. est performance figures, etc.

No i'm not thinking of racing it.  It would just suit my driving style better, I'd prefer it to get to 60 a bit faster but i also love the automatic ease.

I fig if people are spending rediculous amounts of money (Rediculous because i haven't got it)  ;) like thousands to end up with a car that will do the 60 dash quicker via turbo, nos, v8, etc.  A modded box would be the best choice for me as The car will remain largely the same.

Ok........... So the ECU would have to be modded as well.  Any way of doing this?

I own a vauxhall omega 3.2 v6 automatic 2002.  The gear ratios are 2.4, 1.48, 1, 0.72.
I was wondering if it would be possible to make 1st and 2nd gear ratio slightly higher or lower (which ever way it is), say, 3.2, 1.9, 1, 0.72.
This would increase the acceleration and the 3rd and 4th gears remaining the same would allow me to keep the fuel economy as before at cruising speed (40+).

I would like to know anyones advice on this and around how much something like this would cost.
Would the gearbox ecu have to be changed?

Thanks guys.

Ok sounds good.  How much brake do you got?  How much was the engine?  What did installing it entail?

I think that that might have severe drinking problems.  How does changing the gear ratios of 1st and second gear to get a bit more acceleration, leaving the others for the cruising when you get to the speed you want by easing off and the auto box cruising?

What is an LS1 guys? :-\
How many silencer boxes per side in exhaust system?
So there is not a way of putting the cat sensor in the exhaust after / before the cat should be to keep EML off?

I can always put the cats back in before MOT.
And about the wrong car, I disagree.  With the equipment, features, quality vs cost of the omega, I think it was the right car.  It's like anything, one doesn't really want a run of the mill, standard production line car.  People like to add their own uniqueness to it.  Well I do anyay.  I love the lines, the shape, the sound, the price, the size, the rear wheel(ness) of the omega and would be very pleased to make it as unique as poss.  Reg's dont bother me either.  As long as it runs the way I want, I have the style to style it timelessly.  Making something like our cars better handling and more powerfull is a rewarding challenge, yes?

So i hear that this can be injected into your air intake as to avoid a complex procedure of direct port injection.  The only problem is tha the gas runs out too quick, yes.  And is it expensive?

and can someone tell me what the maf housing is and why and how much gains?

on a serious note...i was told to bore out the maf housing about 1mm

What is a maf housing?  I have been reading about the electronic supercharger.  Gives 10 - 15 break.  I wonder if That could be noticed?

Omega General Help / Performance upgrades 3.2

I've just bought this 3.2 omega elite,  ;D  got some standard shocks, not self leveling, and minus 40 mm springs on the way. so that is the suspension sorted out, I've been looking all over this forum and can't seem to find any engine modes that are worth doing.

Does anyone have any ideas or experiences in moding  3.2 2002 omega?
I wanna get about 270 b.h.p. and can't find any twin exist exhaust system (so there is one pipe on each side ). is it possible to remove silencer boxes and cats from underneath without getting EM lights and retarding performance? This should give me 15 horses.

Also, is there a way I can find out the code for my siemens 2015 color sat nav system? just in case my battery fails.

thanks guys
