Omega General Help / Re: 2.5TD Hot Start Problems

Mine's been chipped, but still doesn't warm-start as positively as I'd like.

Every 'tractor' I've seen is the same!

That makes me feel a little better lol ;D

Omega General Help / 2.5TD Hot Start Problems
« on: 16 October 2008, 15:40:18 »
I know this has probably been covered many times, I've spent hours reading up on the net with Range Rovers and BMW's etc but does anyone know a definate fix?

I've read people have changed the fuel temp sensor in the pump and even the complete pump itself. I can trick the ECU into thinking its cold but I'd rather fix the fault.

I've also got an occasional problem where the engine will die at low RPM or leting off then comes back into life.

If anyone has any experience it would be appreciated.

Thanks
Rob

Thanks for the comments :)
How easy would it be to swap the HID lights and suspension onto a CD?

Self leveling is not standard on the CDx

Differences that come to mind:

Different Alloys
HID lighting
Sunroof
Better audio (CCR2006)

Probably a few other to...

Thanks,
Do you know if the better audio includes the bose sound?

Thanks for the replies, So it could have things like the rear blind or it may not? Are the rear leathers heated on the MV6?

Does the Facelift MV6 have larger brakes?
The one I've seen says it has xenon's so will that mean the suspension is self leveling?

Omega General Help / Facelift Elite & MV6 Differences
« on: 10 February 2008, 21:35:22 »
Hi,
Other than the seats, wheels and front bumper, could anyone tell me the differences between them?
Does the MV6 have everything the Elite has? Rear blind & Bose Sound System etc?

Thanks
Rob

Nowhere near as a v6 thats for sure.

Looking at these 2 graphs the x30xe has more torque @ 1000 RPM but from just under 2000RPM up to 5000RPM the LET is much more solid, this is where you spend most of your driving. As said, the LET is also far easier to tune and with a couple of small mods, the difference in torque would be substantial.

I'd go for a C20LET using the Omega sump and pickup. 300 BHP very easy achievable. :y
Remember dragging 1.7 tonnes around needs a lot of torque, not sure what torque the C20LET can reach throughout the rpm range...

As the std KKK16 turbo acheives full boost by 2500RPM you can expect around 300 - 320lb/ft of torque with a front mounted intercooler and chips. So plenty ;)

Omega General Help / Re: Oil cooler replacement on a v6 deisel?
« on: 18 July 2007, 21:58:33 »

Evenin every body, I need to know if replacing the oil cooler on a deisel is the same as petrol? Also the oil cooler has been bypassed, I don't know how and where until I have seen the car. My questions are;

What parts are needed for the replacement of the oil cooler?
Are there any specialist tools required?
And how long will it take? Bearing in mind I will only be able to do it when I finish work.

There are two unions connecting the pipes to the cooler. I think they are around 24mm. If you need to change the pipes from the engine they changed the design slightly on the mini facelift. When I had an early TD one of the pipes must have broken or rotted through as someone had joined them with hose which burst :-[ I tried a few times to re-join it with hose etc but kept blowing off, in the end I took the pipe off and welded it. Never had a problem since!

Although I've only had 2 omega's (both 2.5TD's) I have had countless other vaux's inc V6's, done loads of engine conversions etc, I think they have to be worst DIY engine vaux do! The BMW TD engine is far stronger and miles more reliable. Also a few simple modifications can take the power to that of a 2.5 V6 with loads more torque.
Hmmm, my experience is that V6 is way more reliable, and cheaper to fix when it goes wrong.

The BMW 2.5TD(s) is way overrated imho, not particularly economical, too heavy, prone to coolant silting up, noisey, and bloody expensive when something needs doing....

Personal experience I guess. My experience with the V6 are problems like Heads gaskets, coil packs, oil coolers, big ends, tappets and EGR that’s without all the sensor faults like lambda, CTS and AFM. The only common fault with the TD engine is the bottom pulleys leading to premature were on the shells but that’s only because people don’t check/tighten and replace the bolt! Also owning a Range Rover with the same engine I've never had problems with coolant silting or engine noise, infact for an old diesel engine they're remarkably quiet when warm.
