Hey wouldn’t it be funny if Trump arrested Putin and handed him over to be tried for his war crimes! Now that would earn him a place in history although there would be no shortage of megalomaniacs to step into his shoes. Lavrov, Mevdev and so on.

I predict nothing will come out of the meeting.

Must have cost a few bob to produce.

Pity they couldn’t even spell. Chanel. Maybe that is the mean level now.

50,000 boat migrants in 13 months. Some achievement

When we were looking to buy our present car, we looked at a private sale.  Youngish lad about 25.

Full service history. Well no it hadn’t. No mention of a great long scratch across three panels. The icing on the cake though was, “ can I see the parking in operation?”. Sure.. nice quite road, big space and it Kerbed the wheel badly. Our car has it but neither of us have ever used it. I do like rear view camera and sensors.

When we chose bi xenon Golfestate, I thought great. The reality is even just two up,nothing in boot, the lights are rubbish. Born out by Mk7; golf forum. Our late hundred year old Vitara with £7 bulb upgrades was far superior. The sharp bend low speed fog light on is a nice feature.

I have got to say DCC suspension is on our shopping list. We had it on our mk7 golf we bought during our extended stay in uk last year. Best of both worlds. Sport mode for pressing on and eco for all the wretched road surfaces

“To the original question, why newer? Plenty of decent older cars with less interference. Newer tech isn't necessarily a good thing as the electronics and software aren't always as dependable as you might think“

Just fancy a newer car with better headlights. Plus might be free of big bill maintenance for a few years. Still got some big Europe journeys left in me though doubt I will ever drive to Britain again.

I am thinking now that something pre July 24 might be the answer.

ISA Intelligent Speed Assist
ADAS  I think is Advanced driving assistant system?

Must be someone on here who has driven a car with this stuff?

I am thinking of changing our car for something newer.

I like adaptive cruise control - great for the miles of open motorways here. Not a great fan of all these “ interlocks” like pull up , open the door to lean out and throw a dead fox off the road and the electric handbrake comes on.

Are the gifts that come post July 24 in the form of ADAS and ISA a pain?

Franco would have embraced it if there was Advsntage or been ruthless if not.

I wonder what the French would do if the flow was the other way eg Syria to Britain to get illegal boat entry into France?

One thing the woke make a great deal of is the boat entrants are just a small percentage ( 4%?) of immigration. The important thing to me though is if they are coming by boat it is because they wouldn’t qualify for legal immigration eg criminal record. They certainly seem to have the money for the journey.

The BBC managed to track down the traffickers both sides of the channel. How come the police cannot?

Problem here in Spain too of course. https://www.surinenglish.com/andalucia/costa-tropical/immigrants-disembark-broad-daylight-castell-ferro-beach-20250805081939-nt.html

Slightly different approach. This specific incident has been the main subject of every conversation, TV shows etc. Like in Britain, folk are fed up of migrants turning up paperless and getting accom, benefits etc.

I cannot for the life of me understand why Britain just doesn’t put the boat people back onto a naval landing craft and guard them on the French beach until handed over to the authorities for “ Processing at first country of entry”. Clearly having come from a French beach, they are not the responsibility of Britain

We did try Starlink for £75 a month but it didn't work out at all well.

Back it went. :-X

What was the issue with starlink? I believe it is faster then the “ Hispasat” we use but Hispasat is free install and 35 euros a month so is/ was cheaper.

Could the. Problem be your router/ settings?

I long for the day we can have a proper hard wired broadband. We have 4G giving up to 19 Meg but varies hugely depending on time of day. The Satellite internet is much faster , maybe 150 Meg but with huge latency. Both stream TV and both suffer spinning circles regularly.

Our satellite supplier did an upgrade and pointed the dish very slightly elsewhere and changed the router ( but still same make) the Wi-Fi coverage was hugely improved

What has got my goat up is clearly last weekend I must have loaned my car to that reprobate from Thame.  >:(

 ;D ;D

Oh dear, I'm guessing that if I'm getting the blame it must be something to do with speeding.  ::)  ;(
I wasn't speeding, the limit was just too low  >:(

Poxy HS2 dragging out pointless roadworks, despite never, ever doing anything. Hence 2 years into this new bridge, and still another year to go!

If you were riding The Gravy Train, you would never want it to pull into a station!
