Omega General Help / Gearbox range selctor
« on: 30 June 2016, 18:54:12 »
Hey folks. I thought I had done well having no repairs for 12 months but I now have a need to return!
I have just had every light on the gear box on at once and after a cheeky visit from the AA they tell me it's due to the range selector. Aparently Omegas are prone to it. I can't source one anywhere though! I tried Murkitts and 2 auto transmission companies who all say it's no longer stocked. As for scrap yards I have tried 5 near me with no joy.
Does anyone have a spare please, or is anyone located near Cambridge that can do the adjustment on my old one please? For cash of course. I'm supposed to be driving the kids to bognor regis next month so this is a kick in the nuts  :-\

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: No tunes!

Not yet mate. To be honest it was a check before flying off to work. Is there a separate one behind it? I guess that would make sense as the dash display is good but in the stereo I don't even have the rear lighting.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / No tunes!

Two days ago I had to jump start my Omega. All was fine until I tried turning on the stereo. No response at all, so checked fuses, disconnected battery, still nothing :( Just wondering if anyone has had and solved the same problem?  My screen is showing Bose plus date and time but obviously with both reset. Failing any help does anyone have a NCDC 2013 Siemens for sale at a nice price please.

Yep DIY. Thanks for the heads up on fuse number. Been Qouted  £120 per s/l. 48 quid per standard. I now have to add in the price of some springs though so I get what your saying  :-\

Thanks lads. I would love to go like for like but a 2 year old daughter and bills mean I'm looking for the cheapest option! So in short, harder springs and the fuse to the pump removed?

Can anybody tell me if I can fit standard rear shocks on my 3.2 v6 Elite please? She is an 02 plate. The existing now knackered shocks have a sensor on them and I don't know if it has to be like for like. As it's the difference between  £45 and £125 per shock I'm keen to know if this sensor is a must have.    Only posting here as it won't let me access the other section. Thanks in advance.

Omega General Help / Re: Management lights
« on: 05 March 2012, 15:01:40 »
Are you saying that the one with spanner symbol is staying on while driving? Thats the service light. When i had that the steering felt slightly heavier, fuel consumption was massive also.
I went to the garage who put it on diagnostics and it turned off but i still had a service completed a week later.
The other light is engine managment. As Tango said, if they both go out on start up you have nothing to worry about.

Hey. Thanks for the welcome guys.
Took your advice and avoided a main dealer. I have a friend who was a mechanic at Vauxhall, so he will be taking my baby over Easter to work on. I think we will be changing plugs, cleaning ports etc. Basically going over evrything again since we changed the oil cooler!
I guess if that does not show much improvement i should be looking at some kind of diagnostics or a rolling road. Does anyone know if they are my best options for showing where your flat spots are?  :)

I have been on here a few times for advice and found it really helpful but only registered today, so firstly hello guys and girls.
Just wondered if anyone can suggest what i should be looking at for a bit more pace from pull off. I have an Omega 3.2 Elite and just after Christmas i had to have the oil cooler replaced. Since then it doesnt feel as responsive as an engine this size should.
I had it cleaned when re-assembled and its been flushed through twice. Should i book i in with Vauxhall for a full on service, or would the money be better spent on re-mapping and diagnostics etc?
Love my Omega but when it comes to the mechanical side of things i get easily lost!! :-\
Any advice or recommendations will be really appreciated.
  Cheers. Simon.
