Meetings, gatherings, parties etc / Vauxhall Challenge Day
« on: 13 March 2012, 14:32:02 »
Vauxhall and motorsport on British circuits up and down the land is a well chartered affair. The same can be said of rallying, hills and sprints as well as the popularity of short track oval motor racing on both grass and tarmac. Drag racing has the Performance Vauxhall Show to boost its branding on the drag strip and the quarter mile.

The first Vauxhall based drag event to be held at Long Marston Airfield’s Shakespeare County Raceway was held eight years ago with a hot mix of tricked out modified Vauxhall’s, modern and contemporary classics taking to the track. The years popular range of Astra’s, Cavalier’s and Nova’s also held there own on the quarter mile. Well it’s making a come back to the Warwickshire venue on Saturday 21st April as part of Shakespeare County Raceway’s all clubs Public Track Day weekends.

Vauxhall clubs and enthusiasts are welcome to come along and display for next to no cost to your club other than the raceway’s general admission of £12 per person. Vauxhall club members can also test there cars overall performance on the day by entering the track’s Run What Ya Brung. This form of competition will determine who really has the quickest and the fastest Vauxhall of the day, and for £20 you can make as many timed runs as you want. You’ll even get a certificate of speed at the end of each run completed. All you will need to bring is a crash helmet and a driver’s licence. We can even run an interclub Vauxhall Drag War competition if there is enough interest. Fans and enthusiasts can also make a weekend of it and compete or spectator at the Custom Chrome Cherry Bomb Challenge on the Sunday.

To find out more stop by the track’s official web site at www.shakespearecountyraceway.com or the Shakespeare County Raceway Facebook group page. Club enquiries should be directed to enquiries@shakespearecountyraceway.co.uk or call 01789 720180. See you at the strip!

Newbie Welcome Area / Shakespeare Says Hello

Thank you for allowing me to join your forum. As a motorsports and drag racing fan I would like to ask out of courtesy if I can post up some details about Shakespeare County Raceway’s Vauxhall Challenge Day taking place next month but I didn’t want to post without asking admins for permission like other organisers seem to do these days. I note that you have a thread developing for the currently advertised date but in the past week there have been one or two developments a long with a change of plan.

Due to the lack of interest, the current economic climate etc the planned show which was due to have taken place on Saturday 21st April has been cancelled. However, Shakespeare County Raceway is committed to the track having a Vauxhall Owners Public Track Day which if supported may lead to a more established event in the future.

The day/weekend also lends its self to other clubs and race series attending, including the Custom Chrome Cherry Bomb Challenge Public Track Day Sunday. So expect a weekend’s worth of high speed action on both four and two wheels.

That said I now look forward to your reply or by phone on 01789 720180.
