Hello everybody.  I really do appreciate all your help.  Garage is being hopeless in sourcing me a new engine breather but I have managed to get them to show me exactly what they're talking about.  It's round, plastic and to the right of the engine block at the top.  It's not a tube or a pipe.  Any suggestions as to where i can get one much appreciated.

Many thanks for all your replies.  The garage where my car is is claiming that they can't find the part.  They refer to it both as 'oil breathers' and 'engine breather'.  Sorry to show my ignorance, but are the parts recommended above likely to be the ones that are needed?  Many thanks.

Hi.  I'm trying to find an engine breather for my Omega 2.2 DTI 16v diesel.  Vauxhall don't stock them any more.  Any suggestions as to where I might find one?  Many thanks.  Tom

Thanks - I feared as much.    I now need to decide whether it's worth the £500 - £700 or whether I cut my losses and hunt out a clean alternative Omega for a grand or so.  Thanks again.

Hi.  I have a 2002 2.2 diesel estate, which I love.  Done 142k but runs like new.  However, I've got rust over the wheel arches on both sides.  I've had two bodyshop quotes - one for £500; one for £700.  Both say they can't offer any guarantees the rust won't come back.  Given market value of the car isn't worth probably much more than £500, does anybody know of any cheaper ways of resolving the problem.  Seems a great shame to have to say goodbye to the car for reasons of rust as in every other respect it's A1.  Many thanks.

Omega General Help / Engine noise. Not exhaust. Help!

I'm geting a noise (a sort of whirring, clanking) from it seems under the car at the front when I decelerate/take my foot off the accelerator.  I thought it might be a worn exhaust, but took it in yesterday and the exhaust system is fine.  Engine oil is up to required level.  It's a 2.2 TD diesel engine.  2002.  Never had any problems before, and it's been regularly serviced.  Can anybody help?  Many thanks.
