Omega General Help / Re: HIGH IDLING AND INTERMITTENT STALLING
« on: 12 April 2012, 09:09:28 »
to be honest no.
that i guess is my next step.
as i say,the large breather isnt great, you can press it together by hand and it dosent return to shape.

i may replace this, check the others and give the throttle body a clean up,if thats whats needed.

Omega General Help / HIGH IDLING AND INTERMITTENT STALLING
« on: 12 April 2012, 06:57:41 »
hello
i have just replaced cam and crank sensors and carried out a full service on my 2 litre omega,in normal use it drives a whole lot smoother and is a lot more responsive than it has ever been.

one thing ive noticed is the idle speed,it is idling at around 1100 rpm when you come to say a junction,or you come to pull up.
the idle gradually drops to around 800 rpm,but occasionally stalls, but fires back up immediately without a problem.

ive had a quick look at vacumes and the like and the only thing i can see,is that the big breather hose on the throttle body side of the engine, feels soft, squashy and can be stretched like clay.
is this likely to be contributing to the running issue ?

thanks  :y

Omega General Help / siemens cam and crank sensors
« on: 04 April 2012, 13:36:48 »
hello again

just thought i would let you know that the omega is cured of its engine light.
i replaced the cam sensor and crank sensor as a pair and it now runs supurb.

autovaux on ebay provided the parts next day and i was suprised at the cost.
they have genuine siemens cam and crank sensors in stock for the 2 litre omega and my pair came to me next day for under £44 posted, for the lot, which i think was a great price.
im very happy now and thanks to all who contributed.

thanks Kevin
that completely makes sense mate,as it stops as soon as i turn the ignition on.

no lights flash or nothing like that,if i get my fob repaired, will this cure the issue ?

5
i was thinking maybe interior light timer realy / control unit,if it has one

any views ?

hi everyone
i have to open  / lock the omega with the key,as the battery holder on the remote is goosed.
ive noticed a ticking noise from under the drivers side dash (right hand drive),once i have opened the door and until i start the car.

first thoughts were that my wife had planted a bomb,so she could make a life insurance claim, but ive luckily been able to dismiss this theory.

any ideas welcomed

Bill

cam sensor eh ?

makes you wonder if thats what the garage told the old fellow and he has bought a crank sensor ???

is the cam sensor easier ??,because the crank sensor was one of the worst things ive done for a long time, flipping 2 hours and scraped knuckles, lmao

Omega General Help / ENGINE LIGHT ON AGAIN
« on: 29 March 2012, 15:46:20 »
hi people
recently bought a bargain 2.0 X20XEV.
the old guy i bought it off said the crank sensor needed replacing as the code was checked at the last service, due to the light coming on now and again.
he provided the new sensor at the time of purchase and i fitted it recently.

unfortunately, the engine light comes on still, not all the time,it stayed off for 4 days, this morning it came on 4 times within half an hour (resetting when turning engine off)

when it comes on the car loses power momentarily, but clears when the light comes on and drives as normal.

will this be a historic fault which needs the code cleared or something more sinister ?

all help appreciated

Bill

hello people
ive just recently aquired an omega for what i consider scrap money (£275) and what a car it seems.
2000 w reg.2 litre cd manual with 113000 miles.

it drives great, looks well and im suprised at the just under 35 mpg on my mixed driving commute.

ive recently fitted the crank sensor that the old guy gave me with the car,but it still pops the engine light on now and then.

just thought i would say hello and comment on what a fine forum this is

Bill
