Omega General Help / Re: buying Omega

so 2.2dti that bad huh?...still dont understand why , noisy , slow , breaks to much , thirsty , not reliable ?.....why is it so bad?
I think it pulls a lot better than 2.2i tho but is slower at the top end speed which you don't do very often...I'm doing 205kmh with Vectra which is 1.8i , that is damn impressive for a 116hp and 1300kg medium sedan....what I don't like is it doesnt have the torque (170Nm at 3400) to slam you into the seats when you wish to overtake someone with light speed , thats the case with omega 2.2i , its more powerful but much heavier around 300kg , so Im back at the same I guess , but I guess Im much safer?!

you say 2.2dti is the deal , what about the fuel pump and turbo , what is it driven by , belt or a chain?...I dont do much miles , around 5-7thousand km each year , it could be over 10t it depends but less likely....
there is no difference in price , Im going to Geramny to buy there , have in mind that those are 10y old cars and thats why Im asking what will give me less trouble later, a diesel or a petrol , I know for a fact well since Im driving eco-tec 1.8 myself that these engines are very durable and very good , that must be the case with 2.2 ? , basically I will have the same performance as the vectra but with higher fuel , Im doing around 10l now (city) , open roads around 6-7 , with omega I will be doing around 14! but thats fine , I am willing to pay more for fuel if the car is all peachy smooth , on the other hand the dti gives you plenty of torque at low rpm , that's what this car needs in my opinion , it suites omega better in my opinion , the 280Nm does the thing which the 2.2i 16V is no where near , I know all the technical stuff but I need real life experiences from people who own the damn thing so I'm open to any good advice.

diesel is not cheaper at all in fact its either the same as petrol or more expensive , so there is None difference at all.
What makes difference is fuel consumption , according to papers the 2.2 petrol does around 14l in the city whilst the 2.2 dti does around 10 , but that's not the point.
the point is which of the two gives me less worries ?

what a place to start , it may seem a little odd because this is 'owners' of omega forum...well actually I'm planning on buying one , so I need help..

Im after the facelift model , mainly year 2002-2004.

I have a dilemma though. benzine or diesel?

there are actually two options - 2.2i and 2.2dti , which one is better & safer option and why?

have in mind though that I own vectra b 1.8i16V , I dont drive too much at all....so now you get it why I want Omega , its natural I guess.

so help.
