Omega General Help / Re: Another EML
« on: 13 November 2012, 12:13:07 »
Hi,
I have the same problem,I fitted an after market exhaust and that`s when the problem started,I`ve been told that after market exhausts can cause the problem.
You haven`t just had a new exhaust fitted have you, because it seams that the position of the post 02 sensor in these exhausts is critical and car cause the EML. to illuminate.

Omega General Help / gearbox problem
« on: 13 November 2012, 12:04:42 »
Hi Guys,
The car does not want to hold 3rd gear, gearbox oil level is OK,when driving up an hill the car changes from 2nd to 3rd and straight away changes to 4th but because we are still going up the hill 4th gear is to high ,the car changes back dowto 3rd and straight away to 2nd,this means I have to hold 2nd gear or it will continue to keep changing up and down and overheat the gearbox.
Any suggestions.

Hi Guys,
The car drives perfect except for the gearbox, when driving it only holds 3 gear for a short time before changing, when you get to a hill it will change into 2nd pick up speed change into 3rd and virtually straight away change into 4th,because we are still going up the hill it`s too high a gear so it changes down to 3rd and then straight to 2nd.
I then have to hold 2nd to stop it changing too often.Any idea`s.

Hi RobG,
What are DBW`s,and is there a way of getting this light out,we have tried all kind`s of thing`s as you can see,I can extinguish the EML myself now because I bought a code reader but I would prefer to find the source and correct it.

Omega General Help / EML
« on: 08 November 2012, 18:09:23 »
I have a problem with the EML on my 2002 Omega 2.2CD Auto 38,500mls after a new exhaust was fitted the EML came on we have changed the pre-cat 02 sensor which is what the scanner informed us was the problem, changed the EGR valve, had the exhaust manifold skimmed and new gasket with exhaust to manifold gasket.
The EML has come on on numerous occasions, I have had it switched off after each time work has been done on the car,but it keeps on returning.
Yesterday the light came on, the garage scanned it and it said the pre-cat 02 sensor but the garage does not believe this, they switched the light off and after leaving the garage the light came back on,at the time I was low on fuel but the low fuel light had not illuminated,I stopped the car and switched the ignition off,I then just switched the ignition on to see if the low fuel light was OK,it was so I switched the ignition off and then restarted the car to find that the EML had actually extinguished it`s self.
I phoned the garage to let them know what had occurred and they are as baffled as I am.
Any suggestions would be gratefully accepted, other than this problem the car is brill, and no it`s not going to the scrappy as I don`t give up easily.

:( Hi everyone, just found out how to work this computer so now I can ask the Question about my car that is driving everyone of my friends round the bend.
I own a 2002 Omega 2.2 CD Auto, 38,500mls ,I bought the car 18mths ago privately, when I took it to my local garage for a service and cambelt I was told that the exhaust was k******d but at the time they were unable to fix it due to a heavy work load.
I then took it to another nearby garage to have the complete exhaust fitted (non Vauxhall part half the price), 2 days after the exhaust was fitted the EML came on,a scanner revealed that the pre-cat  o2 censor had failed.
A new sensor was fitted and 5mls down the road the EML reappeared, the garage scanned the system again and another  new pre-cat o2 sensor was fitted.
Again the EML reappeared after approx. 60mls the garage found that there was a leak at the exhaust manifold and had it skimmed and a new gasket fitted plus a new manifold to exhaust gasket, they believed that was the problem.
The EML reappeared again and it was thought that the EGR was at fault so a new EGR valve was fitted, after a run in the car low and behold the EML came back on,at the same time I noticed that we were low on fuel and the fuel light had not illuminated so to check that the fuel light was working I stopped the car switched off the engine and then just turned on the ignition and found that the fuel light did illuminate,I then switched the ignition off and then restarted the car and to my amazement the EML had gone out.
We checked the memory and there was no history, since then the EML has come back on and gone off on it`s own accord.
We are now baffled by what the cause might be,we have checked the wiring for faults but found non the pre-cat o2 sensor and EGR valve have been changed all gaskets changed,I have been told that the problem might be the new exhaust that was fitted as this problem only started after that time, could they be right and should I have had a genuine Vauxhall part fitted.
Your views on this would be appreciated.
