right i recently change the heater matrix so had the whole dash out, now the sound system was working fine before i done this, but now ive fitted it all back up there is no sound getting to any of the speakers, the headunit is getting power etc.

does anyone know if theres anything i may have not connected back up? ive had a look but cant see anything except a multi plug coming from under the passenger side dash, but i cant see anywhere for this to go at all.

Im looking for some work to be done on my MV6 omega to get it back on the road. Both manifold gaskets are away and all the track rods need replaced (there may be more but thats all i can recall from the top of my head). I was planning on pulling the engine out and doing it myself, however, i was in a bad crash a while ago and my back still giving me problems so no heavy duties for me.

Is the anyone in the Glasgow area who would be willing to do the above work? Id be happy to help with what i could, and its not my daily driver so there would be no rush if someone wanted to do it on the side.

I have a OEM LSD in my MV6. The plates are getting a little worn and im planning on getting them changed in a few months, so in the mean time i changed the oil to a non LSD oil because of the theory that LSD oils have a "slipping" additive in order to give a smoother ride, however as the locking is more important, i went with a non LSD oil. I am aware that the plates will wear out quicker, but as im planning on rebuilding the diff soon, that doesn't bother me. Is there any other reason that i should be using the "correct" oil?

look on youtube for superchaged omegas matey ! kit is about £3.5k  

That wouldnt be my first choice but it all depends on what your looking for from the car. Supercharging the X30 will be taking the engine very near (or possibly past) its reliability limit meaning the running costs are going to be considerably higher (servicing, rebuilding etc)

Also for £3.5k you could buy a LS1 and have it fitted then youve got a 350bhp car thats factory reliable and, if you want more power, you can easily got 600 horses under the bonnet for relativly cheap money.

Personally id forget the ls2 or 6's as for one they use the stupid flyby throttle assembly! , also for the extra money they cost i wouldnt say its would be worth it unless your planning for crazy max HP

Heard people mentioning it's a bad idea to get a cone filter which has to be oiled.  Very bad for the MAF sensor.  So be warned!

i might just get a replacement performance panel filter then thanks for the advice its appreciated
 

replacement performance panel filters can be oiled as well, I know the K&N ones are.

Omega General Help / Sorry to be a pain, again. R.E manifold gasket

Hey guys, it feels like i never stop talking about this, its doing my head in!

Right the job WILL (hopefully) be getting dont on friday as long as i can get the parts, but as usual, called VX and they need the chassis number before they will even give me rough prices! which leads onto the next question  

Does anyone have the part numbers (and possibly the prices) off all the parts that i require (ie gaskets, botls, studs etc) as well as new engine mounts? its a 97 MV6 on and N plate.

It would be a HUGE! help if anyone could, as at the moment, the car and V5 is at home and id really like to get the parts ordered on the way home from work.

head gasket failure is when the gasket between the oil well and coolent well breaks apart and they come into contact with each other. this is what causes the car to over heat and the mayo to appear, however its normally found under the oil filler cap or on the dipstick, as there wouldnt be any water coming into contact with engine oil in the inlet,  its prob just dampness, has the car been sitting for a while?

if there was a manual short ratio 6 instead of auto 4 the launch would be different even with that weight...But to transfer that power on road you need really wide and new tires..

My mv6 manual with a slipper is a lot better off the line than i was expecting. tc off, hold it at about 3-4000 revs,lift the clutch and floor it, slip it a little so all the weight shift over the back tyres first (1 sec st the most) and it flys virtually no wheelspin all the way through first! i don't do it very often though   but it does go quick! lol

That shift from 1st to 2nd is long though! i reckon u could get the 0-60 a few tenth lower with that shorter. anyone know how?  :question

The price is definetly appealing! and to be honest the OEM one has lasted 110k and i plan on changing the engine in the next year or so, so i dont need it to last another 100k.

Also just for reference, does anyone know how much VX do it for with a trade card? i called to ask but they wouldnt tell me without the card number, and since its my mates, i dont have it lol

Also does anyone know the price of the studs and bolts?

on a serious note vauxhall cars are renound for screwing the sensors if you fit a kn and alike
unlike my last car please dont laugh (a mondeo v6) that had a kn71i on it ,the only difference was 2bhp so wouldnt feel any improvement,
pain in the arse in the summer because of heat soak even with cold air feed,far to loud on a motorway,but good in town
so my own opinion is fit a panel filter get the bhp without all the trouble

Yeah that was new to me as i have never worked on a Vauxhall with standard induction before. From what i have learned on here that is caused by oiled filters, so to avoid any issues, dont buy an oiled filter (such as K&N panal filer) personally from experiance, i would recommend the pipercross foam filter.

i want my v6 to be as quiet as possible, that way you know when there is a prob as the noise changes from a sweet hum to a ratle and unhopefully a clunk.

If you really wanted it quieter up front, you could try insulating the inside of the airbox with sound deading material (avaliable from any audio retailer or from B&Q in the plumbing department for half the price). Ive never tried it on a road car but seen it done on competition cars to get the induction noise level down.

Methinks you need to rethink where you stand. EVERYONE is entitled to an opinion... just 'cos we don't like yours, or you don't like ours, doesn't make either more valid.

However, comments like yours have certainly given me an insight to your attitude.

My opinion is that every car should be built for performance and they should all be as loud as 747's! (although living next to a motorway wouldn't be much fun lol).

Can you show me where i pushed this opinion on other people? unlike your earlier post, i was providing advice based on facts and experiences.  not once did i push my opinion of whats best (unlike yourself).
