Omega General Help / Help needed please

When will it all end? Both me and the mrs have been in hospital already this year, various other things have happened and we need some light at the end of the tunnel - getting the car sorted will help. Car in question - 2.2 petrol estate 2002. It needs a cat, the exhaust manifold has been welded as it was blowing so i'm thinking try to lay my hands on a decent manifold, precat and cat from a breakers, needs a new coil pack, temp gauge has packed up, washers have packed up (cleaned the filter and screen washers now dribble, nothing from the back, o/s/r wheel bearing needs replacing (got one, just needs fitting) and oil and filter need doing. It would really help if a willing volunteer could come to Newark, check the car over to see if owt else needs doing and possibly work a price out for getting it sorted, either a job or 2 at a time or all at once, once we have all bits needed. We are quite happy to drive somewhere to drop the car off to be repaired as we dont have a garage. I am no mechanic myself and would sooner pay one of you guys as you seem competent. Please help - we really are at the end of our tether with stuff at the moment!!! Thanks muchly

I'll check whats already been suggested, then re-post with my findings. Fingers crossed it wont need a cat, but thats a bridge to cross if needed

Omega General Help / Fault code p0420
« on: 21 January 2013, 19:21:27 »
Got the blowing exhaust manifold done and had codes re-read today as eml came back on. Something to do with cat efficiency which means we need a new cat so I'm told. Is this correct?? Oh, and since the code read this morning the spanner symbol stays on on start up. Switching off and restarting puts it out.
