General Car Chat / Re: Omega written off
« on: 26 May 2013, 23:49:09 »
Apparently, according to Hastings Direct, as manouvering (where is spellcheck?) vehicle I had a duty to stay out of way of other vehicle. Short of 90 degree turn and accelerating to 45 mph in blink of an eye, I do not know how I could achieve this. Unfortunately off to France at first light so will have to wait till Friday. Feeling hard done by but glad I was in Omega and not wife's 22 year-old Toyota or old Saxo. Also glad hot day so windows down and so not facefull of glass! Next car will be big!
Kammy, are you suggesting I should not deal with Hastings and just put claim in on half-wit's insurance company? Not sure how to do that without my company's involvement. Half-wit not worth pursuing as he has no money.

General Car Chat / Re: Omega written off

As I reversed into a drive on a country road with no traffic in sight, same d***head came round corner 200 yards behind me, after I started reversing into driveway on my left, and managed not to see 16 feet of omega estate in bright sunlight  hitting me at 40mph in b pillar. Car is now two feet narrower having been pushed into telegraph pole. 2 1/2 hours later I am cut out and taken to A&E for four hour wait. I am still in pain 3 weeks later. Driver of other car (Golf) walked away but now claims whiplash, airbag burns etc.. My insurance company has accepted liability, probably because cheapest option £200 golf and £700 omega and no legal fees, and will pay out to half-wit. I will lose £500 excess plus ncd etc. I suspect he has shyster lawyer. Any ideas? Apparently shooting the bastard is not allowed.

Omega General Help / ABS ecu
« on: 11 February 2013, 18:45:34 »
Hi, I've still not replaced my abs ecu as local guys don't have a spare (2.5 cd estate manual) I have found a diesel being scrapped; is it the same unit (possibly a DX)??. Also found cheap rear discs on ebay, are they to be avoided? Thanks, Martyn.

Omega General Help / Re: 2.5 Exhaust
« on: 26 December 2012, 13:10:31 »
Many thanks for all help; think I will go with new eternal bits (rest of exhaust looks good). My next door neighbour also owns a scrapyard with a V6 in it, apparently, so will also try him. If anyone wants any bits please pm me. Martyn

« on: 21 December 2012, 11:52:33 »
Hi, I need a new exhaust centre section for my 2001 2.5 petrol estate. Local exhaust place tells me it must be 2.6 litre. Is there a difference? and where will I find best deal, being Christmas (groan) and now unemployed (wonderful timing!!!!!) Happy Christmas!!!!

Omega General Help / Locked Out!
« on: 13 December 2012, 18:25:58 »
My 2.5 cd locked me out while I went behind a bush with the keys still in ignition. I had to get my son to leave work, get my spare keys and bring them to me. Happened again when I fuelled up but this time I was prepared!. Any ideas why?

Hello, just bought 2.5 manual estate 2002 off ebay. Love the car but feel pictures superfluous (loads on here already! - the car is silver). As with my late, unlamented Astra, the speedo/abs is intermittant. Is there a way of narrowing down the fault? Any advice appreciated. Thanks, Martyn
