Omega General Help / Electric Seat Failure

Hi All

Hoping someone might be able to help, the electric height adjustment on my drivers seat has stopped working. When I press the button you can feel the motor trying to move the seat but nothing happens.

Any ideas would be gratefully received. At the minute the seat is at its highest setting.....bloody kids!!!!!

Thanks in advance

Tim

Ye, he changed the cam sensor and fault still present, changed the crank sensor and starting fault cured but still had MIL light on for TCM, changed the selector switch and still same so change TCM and light now out.

Will report back over next few days

In response to the comments about taking it to Marks DTM and why join the forum etc.... the reason for joining was advise, the advise I was given was cam sensor and crank sensor. Both of these have now been changed after reading the posts on OOF. The transmission control module and the selector switch were changed as the selector switch was water logged and the TCM was not working correctly. Admittedly from what I can gather this is unusual but it needed doing.

I would of taken the car to Marks DTM but it was on axle stands with bits hanging from it so I was unable to get the Omega there. Again you are right that taking it to Marks DTM, from what I understand would of been the best option and it would of probably been cheaper to do that but by that time it would not run because parts had been disconnected and I dont have a low loader on hander to take it to him.

Thanks to everyone who has offered information and advise and hopefully the fault is rectified.

Well, the car is finished. The car fired up on the key first time, we drove it a few miles with no MIL light coming on, started it about 12 times and it appears to be working as it should.

Time will tell over the next couple of days I suppose but the mechanic did a live data test and everything was showing as ok

Well there will be an end to the saga this afternoon, one way or another anyway!!!!

I'm not going any further with it after this and if it aint fixed then there will be a 2.2 up for spares and repairs

Id love to get it over to Mark, but the car is on axle stands at the minute.

My only option now is to put these bits on and once its rebuilt if the codes are still there or the fault remains then get it over there. As a non vehicle techie you can really only go on what these people tell you.

The auto techs reputation is very good but obviously as you say........i might be throwing good parts after bad. If this is the case then I wont be an Omega driver much longer lol

Which bit? Torching it? lol

Ive had 6 diagnostics run on the car, i've had a genuine vx cam sensor, vx have looked at it, local mechanic has looked at it for 3 days and now the auto electrician.

Gotta have faith that by eliminating the obvious ie. crank and cam sensors and selector switch and by getting rid of the water around the gearbox module that i'll be getting somewhere
