Omega General Help / Re: 2.6 cdx auto misses 3rd gear
« on: 25 March 2013, 14:12:09 »
All gear lights are correct, fluid is probably original. I have done 50K in it and nothing in service book mentions gearbox oil change.
Now on 118K.

Is this an easy job or do I need a ramp etc..

I had the same issue with mine and was advised that if its not set up correctly it can burn out the box?

Only cost about £250 to have a new one supplied and fitted now works a dream.
Fitting instructions on here somewhere or pictures in Haynes manual
Good luck.

Omega General Help / 2.6 cdx auto misses 3rd gear
« on: 25 March 2013, 12:01:22 »
Hi All

Now I have sorted the gearbox selector switch (and crank sensor which also went) I now have another irk.

Every now and then when pootling around the gearbox misses a ratio - normally at about 30Mph with little or no throttle. I only find out when i give it more throttle, it revs to about 4K then finds the next ear with a thump, switches to get you home mode.
I have always done the switch off switch on reset and it has been fine.

Question - would a gearbox oil change help? The car is a 2.6 cdx saloon with 118K miles.

Many thanks

John

Hi

Got my 225/65/16s from STS for £70 a corner - they are Primewell and seem to be OK - not much road noise and decent traction.
Also had Accelera and they were fine too.

fault still evident if hit and miss.
Have seen the posts on cleaning the switch so feel happier about that - can the cover be removed with the switch attachd or do I have ot take the switch off - The haynes manual says this is a big faf

Any help greatly received

All
Thanks for the help.
Managed to get to the selected switch to clean it.
Did get some cleaning and it is getting better.
Can I squirt it with something like electrolube or wd40 or will this kill it?
Also failing this how much to change one out.

The fault code reader seems to work ok.
Got the same codes as the pedal test gave and cleared them.

I am also thinking of having the gearbox oil changed but not sure if it's worth it.

Any suggestions

Many thanks

John

I use park hampers for food every year.
Yes the above issues exist but it saves me having to fight with the shoppers
who beleive that they need 2 or 3 large trolleys full of food for the xmas period.

Food with long shelf life (12 - 18 months) and no trolley rage
I would not use them for vaouchers though - i prefer the ones with a picture of the queen which can be used in any shop :-)

So the eml fault code is pointing towards getting a service.
I have noticed that the gear selectir does not always indicate the
Gear i am in but if i go through all the gears it seems to settle
Down ok.
Could this all be down to gear linkage adjustment or the selector
Sensor?

It still changes gear smoothly when in fault condition.
When going into the fault condition it snatches the gear.

Ok schoolboy error.
Will do the test again and get 4 numbers.
