okay sounds like a good place to start, doesn't miss a beat at higher speeds or under heavy load which is where I thought low levels would affect it more?

Omega General Help / 3.2 elite auto false neutral
« on: 13 September 2011, 20:08:12 »
Hi, have a 3.2 Elite that will occasionally at slow speed pullaways find a false neutral and lose drive, have found I can pop it into 3rd gear and accelerate normally then pop it back into drive and all back to normal!! any ideas on what this could be? Not a high milegae car or anything (only 87k or thereabouts)
Thanks Paul

Omega General Help / Re: Immobiliser?? New years eve nonstarter

Slight result as car started today and managed to drive home fine, have paperclipped and results are (as well predicted above) 19 crank sensor then 135 and 87. Would appreciate if anyone could tell me what these last two codes show, also as I won't trust car until I get the crank sensor changed once it starts playing up does it usually pack up for good pretty quickly as don't fancy getting stranded again? Also from ready through the forum it seems like the original VX sensor's the best bet? any ideas on what i should be paying to get it changed? Thanks in advance again Paul

Thanks for that, the main problems I have are 1. Not being able to move the car to somewhere I could spend a bit of time working on it rather than having it stuck in the secure car park at work 2. Only having a little time during the day to spend looking at it (ie lunchtime) due to working for slavedrivers (Unisys). 3. Not being very good with electrical problems!! Would happily pay someone who knows what they're doing to have a look at it as very hard to find a trustworthy garage these days and even if they are they work on so many different cars they don't have a fraction of the knowledge of a lot of people on this forum. The garage I usually take it to is D&A in Mount Farm Bletchley but may end up having to get them to collect it if i can't figure out or fix problem THanks Paul

Sorry, had to go out for a while so will try and answer all questions now, tried to get access to the car but unable to get into works carpark. Therefore unable to do paperclip test until tomorrow when back in work. the car is at my work just off junction 14, the battery in the keyfob is okay as it still activates the remote central locking as normal (apart from the drivers door) I'll see what codes I get from it tomorrow and hopefully narrow the problem down, this is the first bit of grief I've had from this car so hopefully nothing too major Thanks very much for the replies Paul

Omega General Help / Immobiliser?? New years eve nonstarter
« on: 01 January 2008, 13:40:17 »
Got out of work early on new years eve to the joy of the car not starting. Fuse for the speedo, rev counter and fuel guage blew on way to work, replaced now but car now turning over fine but not starting (or firing by the sound of it) Drivers door lock not opening on remote for last couple of days also so having to use key in lock (not sure if relevant) Help!!!!! car now stuck at work (in secure car park) so unable to get to it until Wednesday and unable to start to drive to garage (if my bank manager lets me take it there anyway after what I've spent over Xmas). Any help or suggestions would be very welcome. Thanks in advance Paul

Was you've advised fits in nicely with what I can see, it looks like someone's connected the gearbox pipe to the breather box rather than my Mystery pipe as like you say it's a much more plastic pipe rather than rubber. Anyway i've swapped them round and will now go out for a spin to test and let you know later on. Thanks very much for your help

Thanks for adding pictures I'll try and sort out photobucket for in the future.
I hope the pictures are clear enough I've tried to point to the bottom of the pipe in the second one and the top in the first
Thanks Paul

Omega General Help / Where does this pipe go then??
« on: 09 September 2007, 12:58:52 »
Haven't figured out how to add a picture to a post yet but have got one to email if anyone has the time to look at it. The problem I have is that after getting a whistling noise recently from under the bonnet I have discovered a rubber pipe from the back of the offside cylinder head (hard to describe exaclty hence wanting to add picture) that doesn't seem to have anywhere to go? presuming that the whistling is coming from it (or where it's meant to be connected to) Don't mind running out a bit from Milton Keynes if anyone has the time to have a look or compare with another (99) 2.5 Eco Tec?
Thanks Paul

THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR THE WARM WELCOME AND HELPFUL ADVISE, I'VE HAD A LOOK AT THE BONNET SWITCH AS ADVISED AND THE ALARM HASN'T GONE OFF SINCE SO FINGERS CROSSED (ALTHOUGH IT COULD JUST BE THE FACT THAT IT'S QUIET WHERE I LIVE SO THERE'S NOT ENOUGH PEOPLE AROUND TO LAUGH AT ME TO MAKE IT WORTH IT'S WHILE GOING OFF, IT'S PROBABLY JUST WAITING FOR IT'S MOMENT FOR MAXIMUM EFFECT) ANYWAY THANKS AGAIN AND WILL BE BACK ON AGAIN SOON.....PAUL
