Some of you may have noticed that I put a notice up today to get rid of Goldie.
I know the "written rules" and two people reminded me very sarcastically to which I replied, pointing out that other posts have been moved before,so therefore I asked the question.

The sale post has been taken down, which I accept.
However why are there posts still in the for sale and wanted section that are from people with even less posts than me?
I have helped out in the past when an Oofer needed parts, which I sent just for posting cost,so I am not here to make money,I was hoping that Goldie may have been of use to someone on here.

No worries, but an explanation to why some posts are allowed and some not, might have helped.
Have enjoyed being a member of your family and thank everyone for their help when Goldie has been poorly.

Unfortunately I  am soon to be Omega less although we have downsized to an Astra, soare there any rules that state, as I will no longer be an Omega Owner I must leave and join the Astra club?

Fantastic Forum, well done everyone,I was always taught if you dont ask you dont get, obviously some ask and get and others dont!
Happy Xmas one and all ;)

Just a thought.. Do you have home legal cover? If so, I'd have thought this would cover getting a solicitor working for you.

Totally agree with Kevin, check and check again, alot of policies have these in now,I know when we renewed we got legal cover...errr "Free"!!
Your insurers covered your property I would therefore imagine it is for them to act on your behalf and liase with the other company?
Be aware that IF YOU get builders to repair, then any faults are down to you to seek satisfaction, let the insurers get their own people in and then if you are not satisfied,it is down to the insurers to put right.

Sorry to hear of your dilema and hope you and the Mrs come out of this alright.

It's like women, there's always the odd prettier model every now and then which could tempt you, but I say stick with what you know  ;)
For me, personally, I don't mind having an 18 year old that insists I play with her underneath parts to make her purr, most evenings  :D

Love it..... ;D :D :P

This thread has made MY mind up....nearly!!   .......Goldie stays and gets "nursed" by an OOFER when budget allows.......the chances of getting another decent car for less than fixing aint gonna happen......having said that someone was selling a 53 plate diesel with FSH and a years MOT for £450 round here the other day......mmmmm.....what to do....keep what I know or......????

Like has been said previously,if you can get it up to scratch, you will still have a nice comfortable motor.
Local mechanic once said to me,you can spend £500 on the Omega and still have a decent car, what are you going to get for £500??......true I suppose, better to spend on something you know than one you don't!!

Hope you get sorted and sorry to jump on your post ;).....but.....peeps know I have had quite a bit done on my 2.2CD,it is now clunking on the front (ordered new drop links) and also been told back coil spring has gone, had several "know it alls" work on the car over the last few years >:(......anyway,long story short.....I am thinking ::) of getting hold of the guy in Huntingdon serck I think? (50 minutes from me :y) and seeing if he will take the car with a decent budget :-\ to get it back right, love the motor and dont really want to get rid :'(

10
Cheers Al.......the travel on mine is about the same, maybe not as much.....passed MOT....I have found that most of the 2.2CD have the same and when I was driving Carlton's they were the same, like they said, maybe a fluid change and do the discs etc will help,if you are not used to driving the Omega you will find the pedals strange and softer to start with, but they are good car's .....looked after.

11
Hi Rob......when you say genuine for front discs etc,do you mean VX???.....as I was going to get the Pagid ones from EuroCar Parts??

12
I am probably not the best person to answer this ::),but if you can get it for £200 or less (depends what tickets it's got on it?).....it's got to be worth the punt, why not spend £25 and stick it in for MOT and see what comes up?
I did this with mine (same car, manual) and it went through after standing for 18 months with a couple of advisories.
Brake parts etc are not that expensive,so to me it's worth spending a couple of hundred on it,and you will have a nice comfortable car.The worst that can happen is that you break it and you will get your pennies back on the engine etc.......give it a shot......you have some good buddies on here that will always help and advise.......welcome to OOF. :y

Didnt Martin do key fob repairs etc,I remember he done one of mine and I forgot to send the other to him.If I remeber it was about a£10 a couple years ago?
Decent chap and excellent service. :y
