Omega General Help / coolant disappearing
« on: 30 May 2009, 11:23:23 »
Hi guys,
im hoping that someone can help me with my problem please.
Over the last week or so,i have noticed that the coolant level is dropping quite significantly. At first i noticed a rather odd smell, similar to a burning smell, coming from the engine compartment,so i checked the coolant and it was empty,i topped it up with water and carried on my normal routine.Admittedly i got home and the car didnt move for a week, and yesterday checked it and it was empty again.I topped it up with water and coolant this time and set off on my journey(about 20 miles),on arrival i had the same smell again and the coolant was very low.I have checked the oil and there is no sign of water in the oil and looked underneath and see no sign of leaks.
Any advice please,i was thinking of rad weld as maybe its evaporating out somewhere but not being mechanically minded im not sure.

Omega General Help / tie rod end
« on: 01 March 2009, 14:32:43 »
Hi guys,i hope everyone is doing ok.
I unfortunately had a little shunt in my car yesterday,as i was pulling out of a juction to the right i hit(not at any great speed)an old bag who let me out then decided to keep going, hence crash.
Anyway,i drove home and the front drivers side tyre was screeching a little and the steering was loose and had moved, like the tracking was severely out.
On inspection today, the tie rod end has been bent, and having looked on the guide seems a simple enough job to do.
My question is,can anyone advise me on what else may have been affected by the impact,or is it just a case of replacing the tie rod end and getting the tracking and camber checked?
Many thanks to you all. ;) :y

Omega General Help / HELP REQ-loud continuous noise
« on: 01 February 2009, 17:58:08 »
A little help needed please.
my car has been parked up for 10 days and today drove 30 miles back home after holiday, now there is a loud continuous noise,it sounds like horn on continuous but it isnt,it seems to be coming from the offside of the engine compartment.I have disconnected the battery and obviously the noise stops but still sounds when battery reconnected.
Could it be something to do with the alarm maybe??
any help much appreciated,thanks.

Guys,i am really struggling to find the end of the sensor at the top of the engine,i have the car on an axle stand and have located the bottom of the sensor near the oil filter. Is there an easy way to locate this? I have removed the scuttle tray too,and although its tight i am still unable to locate the end.Any ideas please? :-?

i fear the worst,i suspect fuel pump.
over the last couple of months, whilst driving longish distance,a couple of occasions has happened where a momentary lack of power, like fuel blockage then back to normal, only a split second occurence but enough to set alarm bells ringing. Also a couple of times whilst idling at junction/in traffic, engine has stopped but fired up straight away.
