Never mind. Pounded on the bonnet some more and it released. Adjusted and greased the pin with PTFE lube and it works like it should.

Just got the car and the bonnet was already open when I looked at it last week. Picked it up and drove it home yesterday (thank heaven the battery was OK and I didn't need to jump it) but now I can't open the bonnet. I pull the lever and it feels tight so the cable can't be broken. I put a rod under the lever to hold it out, and tried to work the bonnet up and down with no luck. What next? Pull the lever even harder? It seems all the way out. Can I access the latch from under the car? Can I remove the grill with the bonnet closed to access it?

Not exactly what I wanted to hear. Wonder if these cars were sold in Mexico? Or any of the Carribean islands? Pretty sure not in Canada.

That guide is very helpful. Anybody know what manual transmission is fitted to this car? Such as Getrag? It would be much cheaper if I could source one here in the U.S. from another make of car than shipping one over from the U.K.

And another question I couldn't figure out. How many road wheels are fitted to the car? I tried 4 but that wouldn't take so figuring they ment to include the spare even though it's not fitted to the car at the same time as the road wheels, I also tried 5. No, wouldn't take that either. So what is the correct answer?

I have a 1998 Catera 3.0 with a bad automatic transmission in the U.S. While I can get a used replacement transmission, it could be just as bad or go bad soon. Been thinking that if could use a 5-speed instead, I wouldn’t have to worry about it going bad and it would probably be the only stick Catera in the USA. Off the top of my head it would need the transmission itself, pedal assembly, clutch fluid reservoir and lines, shifter, modified console. How readily available are those parts in the UK? What transmission was used so maybe I could even source it here?

I’ve been trying to register on this forum for 2 months. What colour is the indicator on European cars? That is the question on this forum’s registration form. I put in red, green, yellow, white, amber, beige. None of them was accepted. What is it then??? Only now I noticed that the question changed and was able to register. And BTW there is no email address to contact anyone here either. How is a potential sponsor even supposed to make contact here? End of rant.
