Thanks for your comments and views. It looks as if I  will have to do a bit more research. I was hoping there may be a conventional distributor and carb's that will fit. The engine doesn't owe me anything so I can afford to look and see what's best. The old engines well dead so this is worth pursuing - I think.

I have just bought an Omega 2 litre engine which I hope to fit into an Opel Manta 'A' series. I hope this does not offend any purists. It seems one of the first hurdles will be the sump. Does any body know if there is a sump that will fit back to front as the oil well snags the Manta cross member as it is.
