Omega General Help / Top bloke!
« on: 23 August 2014, 12:51:51 »
apologies if this is in the wrong section first off.

I just had a visit from Daz, aka Darth loo-knee, he sorted out my cam cover gaskets and generally gave my engine a once over. he's a top bloke and definitely knows his stuff. if anybody needs any work done i would definitely reccommend him! when my cam belt needs doing again he's definitely getting a call!

 cheers sir! :y

Omega General Help / help with v6 cam covers and breathers
« on: 02 July 2014, 07:11:26 »
Hi, is there anyone willing to travel to Ramsgate or Dover in Kent to do my v6 cam cover gaskets and clear my breathers?
I'm a mechanical numpty and simply dont have the tools and/or patience to do it.  If it's in Ramsgate it'll be in a carpark, but if it's in Dover it'll be on a drive with a garage and a pit.
Obvioulsy I'll pay and provide copius amounts of tea and biscuits.

Thanks!

Russ.

any particular reason? are the electrics that fussy?

it's not caked but it'll be a good few hours doing it by hand to get it to a standard i like. I know people say you shouldn't jet wash engine bays but i've done fords, renaults and peugeots with no trouble and french electrics are notoriously sh***. if the general consensous is don't then i won't, obviously. :y

Omega General Help / v6 engine cleaning
« on: 24 May 2014, 00:07:21 »
basically I want to clean the engine on my 3.0, it's been pretty well maintained by the previous owner for the last 13 years but he seemed to forget the engine bay!  it's not that bad, but the cam covers have leaked oil at some point. I want to clean it up to see if they're still leaking or if it's just old stuff.
I've jet washed and degreased engines before with no trouble, but just wanted to make sure there wasn't any parts that don't like the wet stuff particularly.
cheers!

i picked my 3.0 auto up from clacton on sea with just over a quarter tank of petrol, drove it back to margate which is about 133 ish miles, stuck to 70ish with the occasional 'spirited' overtake and averaged 31mpg and the petrol light came on about a hundred yards from my place. pretty good i thought!!

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / HID bulbs
« on: 21 May 2014, 23:15:07 »
i'm planning to take the mrs down to the south of france at some point so will need a spare bulb kit. all good except i didn't realise how much HID bulbs are!!! :o
so, are the cheap(er) ones on ebay etc any good or should i start saving and just stick to osram/philips ones? i was thinking of something around the 5000k temp if anyone has any suggestions.
also, are they easy to fit? as in just like normal halogen bulbs?

muchos grassy-arse.

hello! my name's russ, i'm from kent, i've just bought a pretty much mint 2000 3.0 v6 elite in nocturno blue. it's done just over 90k and has full service history, a stack of reciepts and one owner from new who treated it like his baby. gotta say i love it! once i've given it a full detail (i'm slightly anal/ocd about cleaning my cars) i'll try and post some pictures. :y
