Omega General Help / Omega mechanic wanted also cheap project
« on: 30 September 2014, 18:26:08 »
Hello fellow omega members,
I've decided to keep my elite but it requires some work. It's done 138k miles but it hasn't got any service history so I need to have the cam belt, tensioners, cam cover gaskets etc done. Plus I think it's gonna need a clutch doing soon. Anyone know of any dedicated omega mechanics who would be willing to take the work on?
I'm also on the market for another omega. Anything considered within reasonable distance of Essex

Omega General Help / Rough running
« on: 10 September 2014, 19:28:40 »
Hi guys,
Got a couple of concerns on my 2.6 elite. Starting from cold the car runs fine then the engine management starts to flash with it eventually staying illuminated and the car running rough as if one of the cylinders have gone down. When you switch off then switch back on all is ok for a couple of minutes then the sequence repeats. Any ideas? Tried reading the codes but only coming up with P1300 which means no fuel, the car is running on fumes at the moment. Also I've got the old noisy thrust bearing which I suspect means new clutch as getting into gear is a little stiff at the mo, bearable but annoying. Just trying to weigh it all up to decide if I should throw a load of cash at it or move it on. Your thoughts and suggestions will be greatly appreciated  :y

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: Door locking problem
« on: 10 August 2014, 14:07:08 »
Sounds like a break/weak spot in the loom between the A post and the drivers door :-\

New drivers door loom probably as easy as repairing the break...
I have noticed on each of the front doors a red wire running alongside the rubber that goes between the door and the a pillar. Is is normal or could this be a previous repair?

Omega General Help / Re: Cutting and programming a new key

Code reading is best done via tech 2. Certain lap top based code readers who's name shall not be mentioned have a habit of screwing the ecu when it comes to programming.
I've seen lap top versions of tech 2 on eBay, are these any good or just the usual copied rubbish? I see mentioning a certain code reader is as good as swearing for which I apologise

While the fobs aren't a problem to reprogram I've found the immobiliser isn't with the two applications I have access too. A genuine Tech II seems better with used chips  :'(
Tech II I take it is the software used to do the programming. What's the difference between this and
"My Naff Code Reader"? I was thinking of getting this but not sure how useful it would be

Omega General Help / Cutting and programming a new key
« on: 04 August 2014, 22:50:34 »
Hi there
Still finding my feet as I'm still new to this so here goes,
I've recently purchased a 2.6 elite saloon but the only paperwork I got with the car was the V5 and mot, no carpass. Is it possible to cut and program a new key without this? I've also only got 1 key for the car. Where does it stand with using 'used' keys? Can they be reprogrammed?

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: Door locking problem

Hi guys

Need your help on this

I have just met with new member Scorcher, he is struggling with posting at the moment so hope it's ok if I start this thread off for him  :)

His recently aquired car is a '51 plate manual 2.6 elite saloon.  There seems to be a few minor electrical issues starting with this door locking problem .

Locking wont work with the drivers door closed  . .  . open door  . .  locking works  . . .hold interior light button by door hinge in & locking works.

Any ideas where to start looking ?     TIA    Al  & Scorcher :y
If you hold the button in the locking DOESNT work

F27 could be a number of things. Was the noise coming from in front of OSF wheel, or in the cabin, or from the rads?

For radio, ring around a few dealers for carpass. To replace, you need to replace radio, amp and speakers all at the same time.
The noise was coming from the OSF wheel under the bonnet

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Self levelling and ccr2006
« on: 26 July 2014, 17:04:19 »
hi there
I'm a newbie to this so please bear with me.
I've bitten the bullet and bout a 2001 omega elite, the 2.6, and have not even had the chance to enjoy it yet due to having a few problems with it the minute cash changed hands. The joys of buying from an auction. Here goes,
I got up this morning to hear what sounded like a fan constantly running so chose to leave the car at home not wanting it to break down. When I got back the battery was completely dead. Upon investigating I found that removing fuse 27 killed the noise. I believe this is to do with the self levelling. Any ideas why this is running constantly? I tried finding a relay for it but had no joy as I cannot locate a diagram with a layout of the in cabin relays. Also I didn't get any pass code or wallet with the car so I haven't got the code for the radio. It's a CCR-2006. Is there a cheap way of getting the code? Failing this can I use an aftermarket system with the Bose system? I have read differences of opinion, some saying yes others saying no. Sorry this is a bit long winded, any help will be greatly appreciated
