Omega General Help / V6 timing belt dvd
« on: 11 November 2024, 23:02:03 »
Hey guys, I've had this account for almost 10 years but never had much to say as always found the info I was looking for  ::)

I bought my previous omega in 2018, it was a 3.0 manual estate and I adored the thing!

During my ownership I managed to pop the headgasket between cylinders whist partaking in some yobbish behaviour on an industrial estate, I ended up doing the HG's, cambelt and cam cover gaskets and bought the famous OOF cambelt dvd to help.

Now here I am 6 years later, the omega is long gone, it's one of the only cars i regret selling and the cambelt locking kit has sat in a cupboard all this time and I had convinced myself I wouldn't need it again, until a few weeks ago when I bought a 44k mile 3.0 elite and brought it back from the isle of man, it's currently sat waiting on the dvla to send me a v5 and it's going to have some love whilst it's waiting

The issue is, I either misplaced or stupidly threw away the cambelt dvd and i can't find the shop section on here to purchase another.

If someone would help me out that'd be quality! Alternatively, if an admin is happy to make contact, I'll share the details of my previous purchase (still have the email invoice) and if there's a way I can get a digital replacement without messing around finding an external dvd drive for my laptop then that'd be even better!

Many thanks, I'll be sure to put up a post with some photos soon

Yep it's a v6! Didnt know how to change it  ::)

And That's quality I'll order one now!
Whilst I'm here, can anyone tell me why there are 2 cambelt options and what the difference is? I can't work out which one I need. Same for the thermostat actually thinking about it  :-\
Thanks for the replies!
Ben

It developed a misfire, I changed the plugs and leads, still the same. Swapped the dis pack for a known good unit still exactly the same..
I did a compression test and the easy 3 (whilst cold) were 170+ psi, when I did the other side I found the first 2 (cylinders 2&4 were 30psi and the last one to be 170odd.
It's a 3.0.

Those are my thoughts as to it being the gasket, assuming it's just gone on the little bridge between 2&4 hence the identical low pressures.

As far as I'm concerned the head needs to come off regaless as its got low conpression hence why I was looking for the cambelt dvd to help me along the way when timing it.

Omega General Help / V6 cambelt dvd?

Hi,

I'm hoping I've already introduced myself when I created an account 3 years ago but I'm prone to lurking forums as and when I need some information and usually find it and then forget all about it.

Anyway, I've bought an omega recently and after giving it a little abuse I'm fairly sure I've popped a headgasket.
I have 30psi of compression on both cylinders 2 and 4 (the first 2 on the right hand bank)

I've decided to undertake the job myself and book a little while off work so I'm not in a rush but having looked through the various how too posts it looks like I'm going to need a DVD detailing the more intricate parts of a v6 cambelt change.

My big problem is that the shop says it's out of stock of the DVD, anybody know where I could source it? Or if an admin could email over the contents?

Thanks in advance!

Ben
