Omega General Help / Re: rear diff on a 2.6 manual estate
« on: 06 July 2016, 09:55:21 »
Cheers for the answers all I was really concerned was when I do my 3.2 engine swap into my omega was that I didn't want it to end up being worse off with the 2.6 box and diff (of that makes sence) but by the looks it'll be alright and hopefully motorway speeds won't be too much of a bother I hope lol

ok so i know on my previous thread we were talking about rear diff ratios and so on, if i stay with my 2.6 diff and stick a 3.2 in it am i gonna see a slower or higher acceleration as i know the revs will sit higher at same speed on a 2.6 diff with 3,2 engine.

also would this one be ok for mine?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/231994305482?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

it dosent say if its from an auto or manual but i am assuming its from auto so my question is would that be better or worse off for me to have it in my omega? at the moment its 2.6 manual but soon should be 3.2

thanks again guys :D

Omega General Help / rear diff on a 2.6 manual estate
« on: 04 July 2016, 22:12:22 »
Hiya guys need your advice again, my diff is pissing out through both half shaft seals and prop seal.

My question is am i good to buy another diff of say ebay? or does it need to be specifically of a 2.6 manual (im assuming being estate does not matter?)

also does 3.2 manual only come as a lsd?

thanks.

5
well i should be fine then as i am currently in a 2.6 manual and want to put 3.2 into my manual so the diff and box is still from same car and in the same car only engine would be from 3.2 auto

6
ah usual stuff then, that's good also i'm assuming elites were not lsd just a normal diff? if so what oil does it take as vx dealer told me they have no idea..  ???

7
yeah i wasn't going to, although how hard is it to change diff seals on half shafts? i'm a mechanic so skills are there just not the knowledge  ;D

8
ah i see so in the future might be worth getting a manual 3.2 diff then i see

9
o yes but how much would you like for one?

10
yes mate cant be any clearer than that, thank you very much. now just need to find a 3.2 omega somewhere :D

11
yeah but i'm keeping the manual box so as i prefer a manual over auto so i shouldn't need to swap over the looms. if i'm thinking this right :)

12
Thanks alot for that, so basically all the tweaking can be done via tech 2 and should not need a full ecu re map? ( I know you basically just said that but I'm just making sure I'm understand it right lol)

Hiya guys just a quick question, I'm thinking of putting a 3.2 lump into my 2.6 manual estate I have, am I right on thinking the gearbox is going to line up correctly ? I am using my manual box. Also if I use the 3.2 ecu will that work correctly as the 3.2 is auto box and my one is manual box. Thanks
