Cars for Sale & wanted / Re: 2.6 Saloon
« on: 20 April 2025, 12:28:19 »
yeah probably but it was confusing me !
needing a battery ,door sol and a bit of bodywork isnt much effort and the end result is a useable car . we are supposed to be a group of omega enthusiasts after all . maybee everyone on here who wants an omega has got what they want so dont need one which is why i wondered if it was advertised anywhere else ?

also please
does the water pump have a make on it ? just so others know what to avoid in the future .
hopefully yours should be easy to fix now you know . confirmed better once head is off .

i would  agree that its annoying repair places that say "its fixed"  but not tell you what was wrong . maybee theyre afraid wed fix it ourselves next time !
glad its sorted  now anyway .

as mentioned above yes that would be the best step then you can af least find which head (if only one) has issues and someone will have a useable head to swap as a whole . pistons may well be fine ?

that may be showing the issue then . its called a relative compression test and whilst programs exist and tuning machines to show it resonably accurate (some code readers will show it as a starter current draw )
a starter spin should sound nice and even with a slowing of the starter by a certain amount as each cylinder has compression . so a cylinder with lower compression (for any reason) will sound faster . i think you know what i mean .

are you 100 % sure everything is plugged in correctly and where it should be
and
what did the relative compression sound like when you first spun it on the starter .was it completely even or did it sound to have any low compression cylinders .( a quickening of starter speed )

Omega General Help / Re: Strange brake behaviour
« on: 30 March 2025, 23:21:22 »
shouldnt have damaged the pads but as suggested check the rears . they get stuck in the caliper very easily and need removing and cleaning if so . making sure pistons are all nice and free  too .
alsk wirth checki g tyres . a low tyre ( lower pressure or tread) can cause a slight pull ! thats why insuggested swapping them on reassembly

General Car Chat / Re: So what have you done to your car today?
« on: 26 March 2025, 18:06:07 »
after it was mentioned before i went and checked on mine . my ignition switch clicks round to its final position and pops forrward like it should and key removeable regardless of gear lever position so mine must have this feature disabled ! cant see what use it would be anyway ?

or you could just turn it and count the rotations

Omega General Help / Re: Part numbers for service items
« on: 19 March 2025, 11:44:16 »
we all have our l
preffered suppliers and manufacturers but as time goes on we will have to rely on afternarket parts more and more in the future . for service items that dont impact reliability or performance isnt much of a worry but eventually we will be using pattern crank sensors and finding which ones actually do last ( they cant ALL be useless !)
