the granada  mk1 /consul was a fine looking car .and still looks classy today .
the early senators 'A' still look good not as keen on the senator b as it seems to look its age like the mk3astras did !.
omega is timeless as DG says yes .but only in FL versions i think ?.

i class my omega as "nearly new" even thou its actually 22 !
my others cars are 51,49,47 and 39 and all used regularly.
a chap at work was disgusted that he had to use his wifes very old car one day whilst his was in for a repair.he turned up in a 2019 mini !

even removing and refitting an original requires cutting the sewing and re sewing it back together (just enough to get it past the gearknob)

Omega General Help / Re: Ignition barrel sliders sources?
« on: 17 July 2025, 10:58:05 »
i usually have found that a slightly worn brass slider will end up being correct for a different slider requirement in another slot .as they are spring loaded anyway and have never paid attention to (or noticed / looked for )any id markings if they have any !  i have often found that its the key fitment  in the barrel that causes the most issues with wear anyway .

as a quick "get you home type fix" you could melt the crack with a small soldering iron and maybee overcoat with jb weld or similar but it probably won't last long term and new rads are not that expensive .

also (and please forgive me if you already know)the fluid level being crucial should only be checked  with engine  FULLY watmed up and running

was just trying to help . i read earlier that your maf reading was a bit low suggesting air or vac leak . thought of some possibilities some of which you may have already checked /eliminated

12
so to conclude . we are thinking there may still be an air leak (vacuum) before the maf somewhere ?
assuming there arnt any physical engine problems fundanentaly that can cause this then this leak could be a  number of (already checked too ) items.
inlet manifold -to-head.
injector manifold and injector seals to manifold.
breather seperator box, breather plastic top section, hoses and various 'o' rings associated with .
anything allowing extra air through the physical engine breathing such as rocker cover leaks.oil filler cap, dipstick etc
rings/seals on throttle body.
splits in the concertina hoses from throttle body down to front before maf.
connection to brake servo and vacuum take off to storage vessels .
thats a list which springs to mind . there may be more items ( or possibilities for the syptoms.for eg . what would a partially blocked exhaust show as ?  what would a poor air filter or blockage show ?)

these are areas that i will be checking on mine too when i  next  do the cambelt as i have a +3%  ish LTFT on mine which seems to affect nothing but i would like to reduce (most garages are telling me that within 10% is no issue anyway ) but im being told on here that it should be zero.

General Car Chat / Re: Travel Costs (Train)
« on: 16 June 2025, 08:54:43 »
im with you on this one . the deltics sound great and they regularly have them
m in use in howarth near me . fantastic to hear and feel the engine roar !
otherwise not much into the modern trains (or much modern anyway ) and dontoften use trains much nowadays due to the prices .
buses however we do use. many times we buy a day ticket and spend a saturday just riding around wherever the next bus goes to . sound wise theyre ok ish but no match for the fantastic sounding gardner 6lxb found in many 80's buses like the olympians and also the leyland engines found in the 70's atlanteans . fantastic times .
same with modern cars i suppose . older cars and engines you could recognise by their sound but not now !
