Omega General Help / Re: Need an Omega, how much?
« on: 09 February 2013, 22:08:20 »
Just looked at an 03 cdx, bloke selling was a right twonk. I phoned him this morning to tell him I was going, he said yeah ok he would be there all day. Got there, car buried in warehouse behind 20 other cars, he hadn't even bothered to get it out, could hardly open the doors or see around it, started it up and it ran out of petrol. 'You'll have to come back tomorrow'   Not bloody likely, I drove an hour to get there. Idiot.

I'm glad you're all finding nice cars to buy, I'm fed up of looking at them now. Missed a nice 2.6cd estate this morning, went on ebay last night, sold this morning first thing, missed it by minutes, he sold it as I was talking to him. Reckons phone went beserk this morning with peeps wanting to buy it.

 Ah well, I'll keep looking.

Sounds like you got a good deal there mate  :y  I can't seem to find anything decent, went to look at a 2.6cd last week, advertised as 'excellent' , fag burns on seats, engine tapping, oil leaks, central locking not working, boot realease not working, shite budget tyres all round and £1200. Idiot.  I think they are firmly in 'banger' category now, but some of the sellers don't ask banger money for them. I'll have a look for Jimbos car, thanks.

Hi all, after driving all the country looking at shagged out Omegas I'm beginning to wonder if there are any nice ones left !  There is a 03 plate 2.6cdx with leather for sale near me at 1300quid, black, full service history and really tidy, 99,000 miles on it. Is that the going rate for one of these, seen them cheaper but in worse condition. I just dunno what they are worth any more, getting frustrated  :-\

WoW. Just discovered this thread, I thought I was the only bus/coach enthusiast on here, fantastic stuff! I'm not a fan of the modern vehicles but having been a psv fitter back in the early 80s I can remember a lot of the classics on this thread and have worked on quite a few of them. It's so sad what has happened to the British bus industry, all those manufacturers gone. I can rememeber a time when virtually every bus and coach on the road was British, my old gaffer wouldn't have anything foreign on the yard, now he has no choice  :(

Thanks chaps!  I would compose a wanted add, but tbh I'm not really after a specific model. I just want a tidy facelift . preferably CDX spec or higher, would take a 4 pot or a six pot motor, manual or automatic, buget up to 1500 quid and not too far away if possible.  Not much to ask is it ?  ;D

Thanks, I have popped in a couple of times, but doesn't seem to be many for sale at the moment. Plenty on Evilbay but the ones i have viewed have been mis-described sheds.

Hi all, not visited here for a long, long time!  My beloved old Omega was wriiten off (by my dad!) a few weeks ago, I miss it dearly   :'(  After having a bit of bother with the car just after I purchased it, it setled down and gave me nearly 40,000 miles of totally trouble free service, 100% reliability, not even a bulb went, fantastic  :y   I bought a cheap Vectra to run about in while I found myself another Miggy and I hated it so much I kept it 3 days and got shut, what an awful car they are!   Now running about in a 2.5 V6 Ford Cougar and it's terrible, I don't think it has any suspension, the worst riding car I have ever driven......it's got to go!   So I'm now on the prowl looking for another Miggy, a proper car!   Please tell me there are some decent Omegas left, I've been to view a few and they have all had issues, I will keep looking, there must be a nice one out there somewhere.

Omega General Help / Hi, my wipers won't park, any ideas?
« on: 30 December 2010, 20:51:31 »
Hi all, been a while I since i visited here, not had much time to visit but you might be happy to know that my 2001 2.2 has run perfectly all year with no issues at all, and to think this time last year i was going to scrap it  :o
Got an annoying little problem that started yesterday, the wipers will not park below the screen, they park about a third of the way across. any clues please guys? Happy New year to you all.

Hi James,
I can't read the fault codes mate, the garage did it for me. I understand the 2.2 can't be paperclipped like the other Omega models.
Voltage across the battery went ticking over is 13.6 volts.

Hi mate. Yes, checked codes ages ago, got a list of about 8 I think. nearly every sensor on the engine was showing a fault. Parts replaced so far are:
 Cam sensor
 Crank sensor
 Egr valve
 Coil pack
 Lambda sensor
  Spark plugs
All of these items were replaced to initially solve a misfire which gradually got worse until the car was barely driveable. Spanner light came on and that's when the 'fun' started. Car has been at 3 different garages on 3 different diagnostic machines, list of fault codes got longer and longer but nobody could diagnose the problem. Vauxhall said it was the ecu but that is o.k. Since the car has been stood the fly by wire has failed too. I really don't know what to do next, I just keep spending money and getting nowhere  :( :(

Omega General Help / My car is still off the road. Dunno what to do.
« on: 07 February 2009, 16:21:26 »
Hi everyone. I'm completely up s##t creek now. If anyone has followed my previous postings you will know that my car has been off the road since november with electrical problems. I have had the car all over the place trying to get it fixed. The last place I took it to was vauxhall who said my ecu had failed. I sent the ecu to ECU Testing and they said there is nothing wrong with it, as I suspected.
Car will now only tick over at 1500rpm, wavering slightly, it will do nothing else. No response from the throttle at all.  I am completely stuffed as I cannot drive it anywhere now. I have just been under the bonnet checking wiring, nothing seeems to be amiss. I was wondering if the tps could have failed but I don't know how to check it.
Any clues as to what I should do next? I really do what to get my miggy mobile again, despite all it's faults I realy do miss it.
  Cheers.

Omega General Help / Re: badgers fault code update...bad news.
« on: 30 December 2008, 14:04:09 »
Yeah Mark, I agree with you, I reckon the ecu is fine. Partco will test the ecu for 25quid, if it's faulty they can repair them apparently. If the ecu turns out to be fine then I'm completely stuffed, virtually every sensor on the engine has been replaced, I simply don't know what to do next. You said a while ago to check the 0volt connection on the intake manifold, I can't seem to find it. Could you tell me where it is please?
 Thanks.

Omega General Help / badgers fault code update...bad news.
« on: 30 December 2008, 13:01:31 »
Hi all, hope you had a nice christmas. You may remember my 'scary' fault code list thread. Well vauxhall have diagnosed a stuffed ecu. Personally I don't believe them. They have quoted me 550quid plus vat and fitting for a new one, when I asked them if they were absolutely sure that the ecu has failed they said ' well it looks it's that'. A friend who used to work for vauxhall has told me that the ecus never fail, they have never sold one.
My question is, would an ecu from a breaker work o.k as I have heard that they cannot be reprogrammed? I am not going to spend 550+vat on a maybe, I reckon they can't be arsed to trace the fault so they always blame the ecu.
I have more or less given up with this car and have bought a Volvo but I would still like to fix the Omega as it is worthless as it is.
 Happy New Year all.
