Omega General Help / Re: Exhaust emission light
« on: 21 November 2007, 21:43:11 »
Hi, I'm experiencing exactly the same issue with light coming on between 140 - 250 miles. The fault code is P0420 - Catalytic Converter below threshold (Bank 1). Both O2 sensors replaced and wiring OK. In my case it looks like I need to speak with Eurocat (EEC) in Portsmouth who supplied the replacement cat.

How are you getting with yours?

Do you know what happened with the other one?

Thx Guys, wiring was checked out and found ok, O2 sensor connections cleaned at same time.  Never had this problem even when the original cat was knackered.

Sounds like I need a discussion with Eurocat and see what they come up with.

Omega General Help / Emissions Light on with fault Code P0420
« on: 21 November 2007, 16:31:06 »
Hi Guys, need your thoughts and suggestions on this one. With MOT due in 4 weeks had to replace the original cat on my 2001 2.2i Auto (92k miles) because it was rattling like crazy. Bought a direct replacement from Eurocats (EEC) near Portsmouth and had great service. The new one, however, did not have a pre-cat like the original. Queried it with EEC who advised it was not necessary as their's is high capacity.

Fitting was straight forward and used both original O2 sensors - 250 miles later Emissions light on with P0420 code.

Replaced pre-cat sensor and reset light but 250 miles later back on with same fault so replaced post cat sensor and reset again. All's well for another 150 miles and guess what - light back on with P0420 code.

The vehicle runs great, no loss of power or poor fuel consumption so now I'm stumped. Should I be looking at a faulty cat or somewhere else for the cause. Can supply freeze-frame data for last two events if it will help.

Appreciate any help, thoughts or suggestions you guys can give me.

Many thx

DaveG
