i was thinking the same, the garage was reluctant to start fitting new parts unless they were certain of curing it (good for a dealer). how do i disconnect it, and what am i looking for to happen. cheers

Thanks, had the fluid changed about 4k ago. these fault codes all happened at the same time, just as i used the kickdown to get past a volvo battlewagon (old square shaped estate). and its not doing it since i collected it from the dealers yesterday.

Hi everyone merry xmas belatedly, just before xmas i was driving my 2.5 auto elite 2000 (W) saloon. i kicked down, it felt like it went down a couple of gears then the TC light came on, also briefly the dreaded engine management light appeared (it went out as i eased off the throttle) then the computer displayed automatic gearbox CHECK. both the TC and gearbox etc stayed on, it lacked power and was stuck in 3rd or D, until i restarted it later when all fault lights were off. and it drove ok changing gear again etc. later i booted it again to see if it would re-occur (it did), this time the TC came on and the automatic gearbox CHECK also, and both stayed on. don't know if its related but the revs sometimes were sticking between 2000/2500 rpm. the garage said there were too many fault codes to know which was the problem, one of them was the accelerator position sensor. they cleared the fault codes and said they could not get it to do what happened to me. can anyone help please??
