Hi cem, i havent got access to equipment to do a compression test, but i think the head gasket has gone, the car overheated after the aux belt came off due to bearing failure just got to get my head around stripping the top end off,  is it one of those jobs where you need to have "special" tools(not including torx male and female)

Symptoms are :- Pressurised coolent, exhaust gas smell from header tank, white steam from exhaust, mayo under oil cap, mayo on dipstick, and the car doesn`t like turning over anymore, takes three or four attempts to start

Thanks for the replies

£75 doesn`t seem that bad, paid more for a renault one

Omega General Help / Coolant Loss
« on: 16 February 2008, 11:31:59 »
Hi All,
Whilst driving my car the aux belt came off, i did not notice until the temp was off the scale then pulled over, since then the car is using allot of coolant, when i started it this morning with the bonnet open I noticed steam from the rear of the engine on the drivers side bank, could this be the hbv has gone or could it be the head gaskets
Thanks for your replies in advance
Chris

Must be the time off the month for aux belts, the idler failed on mine yesterday, left with a shredded belt and a melted piece of roller.

Its nice to know that there are people like this forum who seem to be able to answer everything omega related

Omega General Help / Camber
« on: 11 January 2008, 23:18:14 »
Reading in a previous post about adjusting the camber, i was wondering if this is good enough until i can get a full 4 wheel alignment, just found the inside edges are starting to feather

Vx normal method is to jack up the car, loosen the strut to knuckle bolts and pull the top of the wheel hard toward you, moderately tighten the bolts and then lower the car, as it gets towards a level position the weight the tyres each carry forces the camber back to 0. When its in the correct position, do up the bolts again.
Does this work? Have just felt my tyres and found that they are starting to feather on the inside edge, this would save me for the time being as there are no 4 wheel alignment places as far as i know in this area

Thanks

Chris
