Omega General Help / Re: 2.5 CDX Auto - Slipping into neutral

Hello mate,

The problem happened to me just after i bought my elite!! Unfornatuly, it was the thrust washer that had decintgrated along with half of my drive train!! My elite only had 69k on the clock when it happened!

There are 2 ways of going....Gearbox rebuild depending on how much damage is done....Although not cheap £1400 for all new internals in mine, its guarenteed for a year. When the washer went, effectivly the drive train was running up and down the box smashing itself to buggery!

The second option is a second hand box for however and take your chance!

Hopefully yours is nowhere near as bad as mine was!!

Good luck

That sounds like a great little investment!!

Can the card be used to save money on servicing as well? My elite is due for a service in the next 2000 miles and my missus's tigra is over due for a service

Cheers mate

Hi all

just joined and wanted to say what a splendid forum this is for all thats holy and right in the world of the omega's!!!

Have no fear i will get some pics sorted soon!!

I am having a problem finding an aftermarket exhaust for my 2.5 facelift elite!! Took it in for new tyres and tracking (£330) and the kwick fit fitter said that i would be due for a new mid and rear exhaust soon. I enquired for a price and was quoted about £250-300 depending on model..... surely for that amount there are some stailness aftermarkets out there!

Failing that, i guess the only other option would be to go to someone like powerflow and get a bespoke one made!

Any help would be most grateful!!!!!!

Thanks for the advice!!

Its strange she was as smooth as glass on the way home this morning!! The car has done 75k is there any sort of frequency for changing the packs?? like every 40k or is it just as and when they go wrong?

alright sports fans....

Got a real problem with the running of my car!! I drove home from work this morning and everything was fine!

I parked the car up and went to bed with everything working as it should. I set of for work tonight and she done the usual of holding in first gear to super heat the cats before the auto up-shifted as per normal.

Pulled up at the local paper shop and then set off on my merry way. After about half a mile, i went to pull away from a set of traffic lights and had a real problem getting the car to move!

The engine was cutting and spluttering as if the traction control was engaged and playing silly buggers with the ignition timing and about as much forward progress was being made!! Almost sounding as though i am missing a cylinder or two. But with the car in either park or neutral the engline will rev although not cleanly. Whilst under load the engine struggles to rev above 2 grand

Its not the coil pack because the engine is not shaking its tits off and there is no engine management light showing on the dash display

I will take it into vauxhall when i finish work this morning but just hoping you can shed a bit of light on it for me so i am not totally in the dark!!

thanks again everyone
