Omega General Help / How do I get out of "park" ?
« on: 18 February 2008, 02:53:39 »
Just a quick question.
I have the trans (auto) in park and no battery in the car at the moment.
How can I get it out of park ??

I don't want to reconnect the battery as I have half of the motor apart right now but need to move the car in the morning. I don't want to crawl underneath to disconnect the linkage but if that's what it takes than I will.

Thank you.

That is a brilliant idea.
So simple, why didn't I think of it ?

Time to raid the kitchen for some supplies while avoiding the little woman's frying pan.

Thank you.

Omega General Help / Quick crankcase breather ?
« on: 09 February 2008, 02:27:22 »
Sorry if this is a dumb question or in the wrong section but couldn't find the answer I was looking for.

I removed the crankcase breather from my engine block (3.0 V6). The metal box that bolts to the motor behind the head.
Inside there was a plastic what looks like baffle that partially blocked off one of the holes. The piece was warped but the moment I touched it the thing crumbled to dust and now I don't know what to do.
Should I make something that would fit the original location or is it OK to reinstall the breather without that part ?

Can't find anything in my service manual or in any thread discussing the breather so maybe I'm the only one dumb enough to have broken that bit.

I appreciate any help as I need to have this motor back in the car and running by Sunday.

Nothing major.
The auto trans was shuddering and slipping so before things got real bad I pulled it down for some much needed clutches.
I tow a trailer with my toys so I will be adding an oil cooler to help with the heat.

The motor has some oil leaks so I pulled it out and will be taking care of them while I wait for transmission parts.
If I have the time and energy I might clean up the ports in the heads but nothing drastic, just a clean up.

All this was prompted by a phantom loss of fuel pressure which left me stranded just before Christmas and since the old girl is 150K miles young she deserves some love and care.

Hi everyone,
New here but not new to the Omega world. I keep coming back for more punishment which says a lot about me. ;D

I currently own a 97 Cadillac Catera (fancy talk for an Omega) which is in the middle of some well deserved maintenance.

Anyway, I look forward to picking your brains and leaching off all the tech info here.
