Omega General Help / Re: Door puzzle.
« on: 22 June 2008, 16:34:35 »
Problem sorted.  Thanks for advice Mike, it sort of led to the solution.  I've never been the most practical person and after 2 and a half hours of fishing with coat hanger, lost temper and got biggest pair of grips and yanked door button up as hard as i could.  Button popped into place and door unlocked.  Now works fine manually but not on remote control.  I can live with that.  :)

Omega General Help / Door puzzle.
« on: 20 June 2008, 21:49:40 »
Question for anyone who enjoys a puzzle. Front passanger door deadlocked and refuses to open.  Even tried molegrips on the button.  Can't get at the screws to get the door card off with the door shut, can't get the door open without taking the door card off.

Any suggestions that don't involve a tin opener would be greatly appreciated.

Omega General Help / Blown head gasket?
« on: 09 May 2008, 23:42:14 »
Hi folks
Wonder if anyone has any ideas about a problem i've got with my Y reg 2.2L.  Everything points to Blown head gasket :'(  bad missfire, vanishing coolant, pressurised water hoses, petrol smell in coolant.  What I can't understand is that while I was trying to limp the poor old dear home in this condition, every now and again the missfire vanished and the engine burst into life with full power for about a half mile, then back to missfire, juddering and practically no power.  Question is how can the problem get temporarily better?  Garage aren't interested and just want to get on with changing the head gasket, won't even pressure test it, but I'm not keen on spending £600 if there may be sone other cause.

Omega General Help / Re: Windscreen problems
« on: 23 January 2008, 21:00:19 »
Recently had a new screen fitted in my omega, and soon noticed the trim around the top became loose and flappy.  Called Autoscreens out again to sort it, and the fitter told me there's a design fault with the seal and it only fits properly as factory fit. Second fits for replacements never press in fully! He pumped mastic into both top corners then taped them down and told me not to drive it for 4 hours.  He may have been feeding me BS, but I'm 4 months down the line and no more problems.

Excellent stuff, and skillfully done.  This could be a neat way of checking out what mods will look like on your car before physically altering the car and risking disapointment.
