Omega General Help / Re: £70 to change glkow plugs.....?
« on: 19 April 2008, 16:05:42 »
done this on a friends 325tds (same engine) - the answers have been financially based because it's a price thats worth paying to save you the (vast) hassle. If it were £150, then it might be worth considering yourself.

If you want to spend the day on it then why not - just make sure you've scoped out the job first and know what you're going to need. Also worth having a car available should you need any other bits.

If you just want to get to know the car a bit more, try cleaning out the induction hosing and breathers. They'll all be full of oil and you'll get a performance and milage benefit from it.

my 2p!

However I did find one once; Vauxhall Main Dealer Patchway Motors of Filton Bristol.  They maintained six of my company high mileage (80-100k per year) cars from new, with none letting me down.  Also used them for three private Vauxhalls with great service overall.
Lizzie Zoom  :y :y :D

I suspect the points might not be entirely exclusive of eachother  ;)

the fact you say it very often does it suggests maybe your slamming technique doesn't solve the problem  ;)

if you have someone with a TECH2, or take it into a vaux dealership, they can plug it in and tell you how often and when your alarm has been going off...not sue if that helps you out or not!

Omega General Help / Re: Rust under the wheel arches
« on: 08 April 2008, 10:27:16 »
I'll post up some pics of my work in progress. It's not going to be a perfect finish as I say, but it'll be better than it is at the moment.

Ideally planning to combine it with the spraying of the plastic bump strips but I think thats going to be a bit more involved and I want to make sure I definately have the right silver first!!!

I started out on this very job this evening.

the easy way is to pay a boyshop to do it.

For the time being I've gone for:

-chip away at corroded metal to get back to good metal.
-sand back
-spray with a rust preventind primer
-filler where required just for a bit of smoothness
-primer

then paint and lacquer.

don't think it'll be a 100% finish because its silver which is a pita to colourmatch, but the car isn't 100% as it is and it'll still look better than rust!
Something for the ladies??? ;D ;D

Yikes!!  :o :o

Omega General Help / Re: Why is there no cup holder
« on: 03 April 2008, 14:46:23 »
I regularly use cupholders to support my large "coffee nation" latte with double shot. I don't see what the issue in having the odd sip of a coffee is when sitting on the motorway..

Omega General Help / Re: should the headlight switch "click"
« on: 08 April 2008, 22:25:21 »
I suspected it might have been removed because I found a bulb that I recognised as being from the switch unit from a thread on here. It also doesn't illuminate the foglight switches. Not a prob yet as I've not driven in any fog!

Omega General Help / should the headlight switch "click"
« on: 08 April 2008, 21:53:58 »
is the rotary headlight switch supposed to click between positions? Mine just rotates with no sort of tactile feedback - I'm used to VAG ones clicking between functions. Is mine worn or as normal?

Omega General Help / Re: Max speed?

there is noway an omega body can go upto 227 mph thats faster than a mclaren f1! i would say as others have said that its the rolling road wasnt set up!

thats not faster than an McF1  ;)

Don't foget the top speed on a rolling road is irrespective of aerodynamic drag, it's all down to gearing.

Not a lot of cars *can* hit red line in 5th due to the logrythmic way in which the power has to increase to get ever decreasing increases in speed

eg you might need an extra 10bhp to get the top speed from 100 to 110, but to increase top speed to 120 from 110 will take 20bhp. (figures for illustrative purposes only).

But yeah, top speed on a RR entirely down to gearing.

Saying that, my MV6 auto, for example, is doing 80mph at 2700rpm.

That means roughly 340rpm per 10mph. Therefore at the 6600 (i think?) redline, you'd be looking at 195mph, but on a standard MV6 you won't have enough power to force the car through the air at that speed.
