Unfortunately from previous responses I gave up on the idea of upgrading and just bought a replacement CCR2006 off ebay.

Crikey, I didn't realise this. Indeed more complicated than I imagined as I didn't realise the top slot was primarily satnav. I've been offered a CCRT2008 which I guess isn't compatible then or not an improvement on the CCR? I haven't seen a picture of it so I don't know what it is exactly.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / CD/Radio
« on: 23 March 2008, 05:16:42 »
Hi guys,

My Omega is fitted with a Phillips CCR2006 unit that has a small fault. It's linked into the Bose system. I'm thinking of replacing it. Cassettes are old hat now and i'm sure there's a model that has the single CD at the top as well as the 4 pack at the bottom. Anyone know the model number please or indeed if there's an even better quality model available that will fit?

Regards,

Dragon.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: key remote control
« on: 22 February 2008, 01:15:19 »
I'm assuming the keys both have the same 3 button remote including remote boot opening? In this case they should both have the LED. My spare key didn't have a battery in for a year and still worked fine when I fitted one so didn't need recoding, guess the info must be hard-stored in PROM/EPROM.

I use what I consider to be the best remote start system available. It's foolproof, doesn't interfere with the car electrics or existing alarm system in any way, and has a safeguarding feature to prevent the car being stolen with the engine running while i'm still in bed.

It's called the YS system model type: HIHO-DMAF-GWUTCFMD

It's brilliant AND it's crap. :) Depends where you live/drive. Best around London and the south east as many trunk roads and motorways support it, then it's brilliant. Live where I do and you have to drive 50 miles to fine any TrafficMaster serviced roads, then it's crap  8-)

Mine does this on tickover with the A/C off. It's because (on some models?) they are set up to the USA emission standard with the tick over set at 500RPM with the AC off and 650RPM with it on. 500RPM just doesn't drive the PS pump properly.

Omega General Help / Re: warped brake discs
« on: 22 February 2008, 00:44:11 »
Not only Omega's and Vectra's but Corsa's too! It is a common Vauxhall problem that usually occurs somewhere between 50-75k milies. Juddery brake syndrome starts due to distorted front disks. Brake disks/pads made by Mintex don't tend to suffer from this, but can be a bit squeeky sometimes.

My 2001 V6 Elite has both front and rear. I would have thought it was standard on the Elite. Mind you, I also have the Parking Pilot reversing system but not all Elite's seem to have, so maybe not all standards are standard?

I'd rather give it away to someone who would appreciate it and how well it's been looked after, and look after it themself than let the trade have it for some trade numpty to profiteer at my expense.

Don't form a queue just yet though  8-)

It occurs to me that maybe the dealer was trying  to unsettle me. He'd already commented on how good the car is, spotless, wheelbarrow full of history, well looked after - and knew he was going to make what I would see as a really bad p/x offer.

And BOY was it bad!  >:(

Thanks for the info guys, that explains it.

It's a 2.5 built November 2000 reg Jan 2001. I guess Glasses don't list it or at least not properly.

Omega General Help / Model Verification
« on: 17 February 2008, 04:22:49 »
I recently considered trading my Omega in against a Signum. I didn't in the end. One reason being the derisory trade in offer.

When inspecting my Omega the dealer (who was using Glasses guide) told me that my model didn't exist. It is an Elite and has always been and has all the Elite specifications even including parking pilot, EXCEPT (according to the dealer) because it has a velour (not leather) interior and is a V6 manual (not automatic) it's a non-existant specification according to Glasses.

Everything about the car is original as supplied from new. Is the dealer right or is he (and Glasses) just badly informed?

Omega General Help / Sounds System Help
« on: 17 February 2008, 03:57:17 »
I have a 2001 Elite fitted with a Bose sound system and the fascia unit is radio/cassette/4 disc CD cartridge. (Can't remember the model number, 2008/2009 maybe?)

I have a problem with the on-off/volume/balance. I've spoken to the main Vauxhall dealer and a couple of local ICE companies but can't find anyone prepared to look at/repair the unit. Vauxhall no longer offer service or a replacement unit as it's obsolete. ICE dealers say it's virtually impossible to interface a 3rd party unit with the Bose system.

Any ideas please of companies/individuals offering a repair service on this unit?

Omega General Help / Re: Help! Engine probs

Could be the coil pack but it's also worth checking and cleaning the injector connectors. If oil's been getting into them it may be the injectors not working due to oil insulation, which gives the same symptoms, mmm, though usually you would get an error code for this.
