Omega General Help / Re: Idle Jet Filter
« on: 14 March 2009, 10:47:47 »
Hi All,

Just an update on the small inline filter. This was installed for about a year and was just showing signs of oil contamination with rpm jumpy at idle. I have replaced the filter and all is back to normal (After cleaning the first piece of hose from rocker box to filter.

Kevin,

I am talking about the idle jet which is situated under the butterfly in the throttle body and is notorious for becoming blocked eventually as the small hose is connected to the rocker cover.

Hi All,

Here's an update on my IACV.
Removed IACV and throttle body, gave both a good clean.
Used a pull through to clean larger breather hose (squeaky now).
Smaller hose to idle jet was completely clogged, so replaced it.
Not disregarding advice about an inline filter, but thought it would'nt hurt to try it out.
Placed small plastic inline fuel filter in the small hose.
Have been running car for two weeks now with no problems. As filter is clear can inspect for contamination. So far so good.
Will post a picture tomorrow and keep you all updated.

Regards

Hi Tunnie,

Engine is 2.0 16v auto. Use car for work approx. 170 mile round trip every day.
Car has had lpg conversion which is fantastic. Last cleaned ICV approx 2 month ago, but since then have had a new (breaker) engine fitted 2 weeks ago. So has had fresh oil/filter change.

I keep oil topped up regularly as handbook states engine uses approx 1 litre oil every 1000 miles?

Do I need to do a regular oil change based on my mileage?

Hi out there,

Is it possible to fit some kind of filter to the small breather hose that connects the idle jet to the cam cover.

I( am getting fed up with continually cleaning it!

Omega General Help / Tow Bar

Hello,

I have purchased a used tow bar (breakeryard.co.uk). I know it came off an Omega 2.5 and I want to put it on my 1995 2.0 16v.

I do not know what make it is, but can email a photo if needs be.

Does anyone have any fitting instructions or diagrams?

Thanks in advance.

Hi all,

Just found this site. I inherited a 1995 2.0 16v Omega from my father last year.
I had this converted to LPG in May 2007 as I drive approx 1000 miles per week to work.
Just had new wishbones fitted and am now experiencing the clogged up ICV problem for the second time. I will be attempting to clean this myself as Vauxhall charged me £112.50 the first time.
I have purchased a used tow bar and am now looking for some instructions to fit it...so anyone out their with the knowledge or a diagram please help.
