Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Help! cant get the car from park!
« on: 05 January 2012, 09:26:38 »
I have a '98 omega 2.5 v6 auto sitting in front of my house, useless because i cant get it from park.

But im not sure if its the brakelight switch.. You see.. usually when pressing the brake... the brake light test on the screen goes out, brakelights go on, a loud click is heard around the selector and easy to put into park.

But now when pressing the brake... the brake light test on the screen goes out, brakelights go on, a weak click is heard around the selector and impossible to put into park.

So my guessing is that either the brakelight switch or connection is making resistance so the solenoid in the lock mechanism for park, only gets half voltage and does not work, or the problem would be in the solenoid..?

Im going the check the brakelight switch connection etc when i go out....
Any ideas are most welcome

And by the way i also get autobox fault on my screen after few mins of trying to get out of park.

Omega General Help / Re: v6 idle
« on: 19 April 2008, 23:04:51 »
Mine idles at 450 rpm (when hot), but does not rise to 600 when I turn on the AC (I dont have climate control) it rather drops everytime there comes electric load on, not much but enough to notice on the rpm gaugde and increasing the vibration already there. this happens fx when puttin on the highbeam at idle.

I did the paperclip test and I got (except 12 and 31) 132, Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Valve Feedback Incorrect Signal. I don't know what that is but better take it to the dealers and check it out.

Omega General Help / Broken Miggy, Help!
« on: 16 February 2008, 18:41:52 »
Here's the whole story: Last friday I was cruising around town and got an sudden urge to floor it so I drove to the outsite of town and on 90 Km/h road I turned around at a shop and floored it as I got back on the road in sport mode which I pressed Just after flooring it, and accelerated up to 90 and then took it off sport mode and continued the cruise. I turned off the motorway a minute later and on a gravel road for maybie half a minute and once I got on normal tarmac again the Engine light came on and I pulled over. I noticed that it idled very rough and after short look into the engine department I turned the car off and after more checks I tryed to turn it on and it wouldn't start. The engine had gotten up to operation temperature long before I went out of town, A week before I had noticed the creamy oil inside the oil cap(there's a while since it was changed, aprox 5000km) and it has had the rough idle before only couple of times before but less rough. The car is my moms and it is driven almost only short trips and often in cold conditions and not fast or until this time. it has 155.### km on the clock and has been fine until now and its an Opel Omega 2.5 caravan automatic GL model late '97.
Update: My mom went to check the car the evening after and tryed to start it, and it started! :) The EML was on for few seconds and no rough idle, it drove fine except perhaps small rough(not sure) idle at red light. I'm now going to try the paperclip test and perhaps let some mechanic check it out ;) Thanks for the advises everyone! :y
