« on: 29 February 2008, 16:48:26 »
I got to thank this man,i could not figyue out what was wrong with my car,it kept throwing a fault light,a tech 2 readout gave 4 faults but it turned out 1 problem caused the rest and Marks DTM Calib pointed me in the right direction and it only cost me £14.00,it was as he said the Coolant Temp sensor. :D ;D :D ;D 8-) :) ;) :y :y :y

Code: [Select]
I had the exact codes last week (I posted about MAF here), P0170 and P0173. The mechanic said that he had searched for the reason for these two codes on similar engine some time ago and it was the MAF. After codes were read and EML was off I drove only two days and again the EML came on... No effect on the engine, revs ok etc. And yesterday the EML was suddenly off again. I will replace the MAF, 'cause I have ordered one, but if the light stays off I will postpone the change until it lights up again.

So, you might have the same fault, your air mass flow meter is dirty/defect and you could try replacing it. The third code will probably go off at the same.

Thanx for the info,i will try that and see if that works. ;D

Sorry for got to add it had a tech 2 with live data and this is what it came up with ,the tester said it just needed the ecu update and he was 99% sure that was the problem, well guess what the 1% bit me in the arse. >:(

Had the V6 for 1 month, after 3 days the EML flagged a fault, had it read and nothing found,reset..3 days later flaggd again, read it said purge valve, fixed and reset, another 3 days passed light came on again and this is what i got...
T.C. P0170 FUEL TRIM MALFUNCTION (BANK 1)
T.C. P0173 FUEL TRIM MALFUNCTION (BANK 2)
T.C. P0430 CATALYST SYSTEM EFFICIENCY BELOW THRESEHOLD (BANK 2)
T.C. ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE CIRCUIT LOW INPUT

They tested the O2 sensors and the emissions and they were ok,said they could do no more and sent me on my way are resetting light, and guess what happened? after 3 days the light came on,its always 3 days and i cannot figure out why,can anybody shed some light on this or i just might torch the bloody thing,(only joking) i think. :'( :'( :'(
