General Car Chat / Adhesive
« on: 30 April 2025, 22:38:33 »
Looking at my new to me Mondeo grill earlier, I realised that the monkey that removed it from the donor car simply cut through the plastic tabs that secure the grill along the bottom.  :(  ::)

I'll try to secure it with some self tappers, but if that's not possible I thought I'd glue it in place.

Any recommendations for a suitable adhesive that will withstand heat, cold, wet and vibrations?  ???

Sticks Like Shit sounds good!  ;D

I mentioned a few weeks ago that my bonnet cable had snapped. Jim kindly found a video showing how to release the bonnet catch from underneath, so on a freezing cold day in February I jacked it up removed the undertrays only to find that on my 2.2 the air intake pipe is right underneath the bonnet catch and you can't get at it.  ::)  I went away to tropical climes and forgot about it!  :y

On my return I found a thread on a Ford forum that said the only way was to cut a hole in the grill, which I did a couple of weeks ago, only to be confronted with a plastic panel blocking any access.  ::)

Today I thought What the hell! and pulled the plastic panel away, and with some sensational gynaecology through the hole in the grill and the gap where I pulled the plastic panel away, I managed to undo the bolts holding the security plate and the bonnet catch and managed to release it!  Hurrah!  :y

I pulled out the old cable and slid the new cable down the existing sheath, connected it all up, bolted the catch mechanism and security plate back into place, and it works!!  :y  Bit of a fiddly piss arse of a job, bit a whole lot easier than fitting a new cable and sheath that you'd get from Ford.  :)

Next up, fit the new to me grill that I got from ebay and hopefully jobs a goodun!  :y

RIP Canada.  :(
Hasn't Carney just been found out for dubious financial dealings?

In which case Canada is even more screwed than they thought they were.

I haven't seen anything about this, but would anyone be surprised if it transpires that this is true, the media knew, but chose to keep quiet until after the election?  ???  ::)

I'd have thought that if it was a solar event of some kind they'd know about it and tell us.  :-\

Maybe it was aliens wot done it?  :)

I wonder how long it will be before they tell us the power outage in Spain, Portugal and parts of France are because of climate change?  >:D
Unusual atmospheric conditions over Spain, apparently  :P

All man made of course. Maybe they've been spraying chemicals in the upper atmosphere?  :-X
No.

How do you know?  ???
I just do  ;D

You can't prove a negative, but you're welcome to submit any evidence you have .
You can confer with Migalot if you want to.

I don't need to confer with Migalot to suspect something weird has happened here.  :)

A 'rare atmospheric phenomenon' so rare, that we have never known anything like this happen before!  ::)

I wonder what caused the 'rare atmospheric phenomenon' though?  ???  Carbon dioxide?  Solar flares? Spanish farts?  ;D

Enjoy your new pikey palace :y

Obviously, just let us all know where you're off to, so we don't get stuck behind in the convoy ;D
.
It's going to be a nationwide tour beginning from May, so if you see a silver RRS towing an Elddis Chatsworth  be sure to give me a wave as you speed past..🚗🚗🚗

Sounds dead posh that!  :)
.

Have a look on Glossop caravans its one of their special editions it is very posh Chatsworth 860 all mod cons , just hope us two old farts can cope with all the new fangled technology..😂

Nice!  :y  I could live in something like that in the summer and bugger off somewhere hot and sunny in the winter!  8)
