my meega is def a Z22XE its also on the barcode sticker on the cambelt cover.

TB has provided me with the part number of the cam sensor for Z22XE i am going to replace my non vauxh sensor with a genuine vaux part, hopefully that will do the trick!

Guys,

I had same problems with my alarm on my 2001 2.2 Meega.

Only solution was to remove power sounder as batteries were hard to get hold of and you have to seal the unit back up well as it sits under a scuttle drain if i remember right.

No probs since!

BTW, Meega passed MOT yesterday but has advisories for the track rods again.

Only had new pair on last sept and they failing again!

What is it with Omegas and their queryky steering / tracking?

Thanks for the advice on Martins Key repairs, just want to provide a cheaper service than VX Stealer, dont want to rip anyone off - think we all experienced that at some point from stealers.

Guys

If anyone has got a two or three button Omega Key with broken switches I can repair them with brand new switches for a mere £15 for fist key and £10 second key including parts & P&P.

Vauxhall Stealer charges around £80 per key.

I have to agree with TB, I had a pattern part Cam sensor and have had nothing but trouble with it.

I get P0340, P1700 faults all the time and have to try twice  to start the car!

Getting a Genuine Vauxhall sensor part No 90520850
IIRC.

Good Luck, these 2.2's are a real pain with the cam sensors, I think it could be due to the cable routing around the hot engine that causes heat to distort the sensitive signals to ECU.

Mark

I try to buy most parts for my 2.2CD from Autovaux website WWW.AUTOVAUX.CO.UK

They are pretty good, if you cant find the part on their website, ring them and they will sort it for you.

Take TB's advice, changing the Cam sensor is easy! hardest part is removing cambelt cover.

Once you have removed the black Ecotec strip, unplug the black connector at the front of the engine block, this is your connector to the cam sensor.

When you have removed the belt cover look between the top two toothed pulleys and you will see a Tourx bolt, this is the retaining bolt for the cam sensor! Take care not to lose it within the cam belt area.

Good luck.

Jonny

PS Keep the site updated on how you get on.

Guys,

I have taken the new battery off the Omega and placed the old battery back in and car started first time.

Kept switching on and off, no EML and car kept starting first time!

How wierd.

Will take new battery back for a refund as it's obviously cream crackered and not up to the job.

I will keep this post updated if I happen to suffer any further problems.

Thanks for help, forum invaluable as ever

no i dont think it was think it was around £23, the genuine ones for the Z22XE engine are around £45

Cam sensors are a real pain on the 2.2 for some reason, I have spent an absolute fortune repairing faults that always seem to relate to cam sensor.

Thanks

Auto,

Thanks for your advice, I have emailed Mark to ask if he will tech 2 for me!

It is the spanner light thats flashing, thought this tied in with the Immobiliser fault codes - manual says if EML flashes on start up the immobiliser cant connect with key chip!

Its just weird that once I am jump starting car, it starts straight away, once jump leads off it starts once and then EML starts flashing and battery then drains.
Battery reading 14.2V when engine running and 12.3 when not running.

Weird fault.

Thanks again

Jonny

Just been out to car and it starts first time when jumpstarted.

Whilst car is running, there is 14.3V to the battery and 12.8V when not running.

after a couple of starts using own battery, goes back to eml flashing and non starter.

I think either the immobiliser is faulty or there is a electrical fault somewhere.

Hopefully MarksDTM or Autoaddict will see this post and have an idea of how best to solve problem.

Dont want to go to Vauxhall stealer if can help it

Cheers

Jonny
