The blind has always been temperaure sensetive so i waited until early yesterday morning when it was nice and cold, pressed the button and it raised immediately. I have given the runners and piviots a good spray with silicone spray which has improved its speed of function no end, so far so good and no need to hum, ware yellow cloths or stand on one leg for which i am relieved!!!

Where are the runners and how do you get to them? The blind is in the down position and will not come up but last it was used it worked fine and i do not think anything was broken then.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Rear sunblind not extending
« on: 14 May 2008, 15:31:57 »
Gone to use the sunblind on this nice hot day but after pressing the button nothing happens. I can hear a click at the blind when i press the button and then another one some 10 seconds later, but no movement at all.
The blind has stuck very occasionally before but only when the car has been sitting in the sun and is really hot, after five minutes with the ac on it would then work perfectly but not now!

Has anybody experienced this before? Is it a common problem and an easy fix?

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: cid bad pixel(s)
« on: 24 May 2008, 19:11:06 »
I had this same problem on my CID which very quickly became the common gray vertical line problem and totally unusable. I sent my screen to this company in Germany www.pixelfehler-hh.de/index.php. They had it returned in three days with a warranty, and their english was perfect.

I had exactly this same problem about 6 weeks ago (http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1205963182). In my case it was not a fuse but a faulty traffic master system or it wiring  / link lead. A trip to The Boy and his tech2 showed no connection to the rest of the car and as such no display to the screen etc. I have also heard of this happening due to the connection at the back of the radio / cage and a removal / reinsertion of the radio can sometimes solve it, no code is needed if the radio is removed on the 2013. I am still traumatised by having to listen to radio oxford for 3 weeks and can fully appreciate your frustration!!

Yes i did check the light connection but this was not the problem, it appears that when i disconnected the red wire to enable the release of the boot with the key in the ignition this also effects the operation of the light. As you rightly assumed the control unit was not sensing that the keys were in the ignition, because i had cut the wire that told it so! I had not used the car in the dark until i visited you and therefore had never noticed.

I am not the first person to notice this  (http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1205347406) but have found a way around it that suits me.

To complete this topic, after a visit to 'the boy' the cause of this frustrating problem was a defective Traffic Master box and or its wiring loom. Removal of the TM system instantly solved the problem. Thanks for your replies and to TB for finally solving the puzzle, i can now enjoy my omega again without having to endure radio Oxford all the time!!

Ps. if TB still wants the TM box for a post-mortem let me know and i will send it on to you.

Hi, Many thanks for your help so far on this frustrating problem.  Since my post things have developed further slightly. I had always wanted to exchange the display for a colour one and managed to find one in Germany with a 2013 (although i did not need it at the time!). These arrived today and as my current set up was not working  installed both of them immediately. To my surprise the new radio functioned in exactly the same way as my old one. The units have been depaired and the display does flash safe as i think should be the case. Is it possible that my old radio has somehow  gone into depaired mode when separated from the car , are the symptoms it exhibits consistant with a depaired radio? To complete the picture the battery has also been disconnected whilst the radio was out as has several other internal plugs although all is back together now with everything else working ok. Any more thoughts would be much appreciated.

Hi all, I am hoping somebody may be able to help me with a problem with my radio (siemens ncdc2013). I removed the radio for a few weeks and when i replaced it the only function i can get is one radio station and nothing else. Non of the buttons work except the on/off button and the radio does not display to the screen. The screen still works and shows the start up and check brake displays but nothing to do with the radio functions. Is this normal after the radio has been out for some time and now needs 'resetting' at a dealers or may i have disturbed something else when it was removed. Any thoughts would be appreciated as it is very annoying listening to the same radio station all the time!!

It appears that i have a leak in either the evaporator and or the expansion valve and its connections. I have the items out of the car now and will pressure test the evaporator today. Is it a common fault for the evaporator to become holed and has anybody else had this problem? Is it also good practice to replace the expansion valve at this opportunity? The  valve looks very solid and i am not sure where a fault could occur.

Omega General Help / Replacing AC Evaporator
« on: 15 March 2009, 09:22:52 »
I started the omega two days ago to hear the sound of escaping gas from inside the air vents. If i turned the AC to eco mode the hissing stopped and in auto mode setting the temperature to Lo now does not produce any increased cooling effect. I suspect the evaporator has a hole in it and the AC gas is escaping. Has anybody exchanged the evaporator? is it an easy job or is it burried deep in the dash needing a full dash out job which would not be worth the effort for me. My car is a year 2000 elite 3.0 final shape.

Omega General Help / Re: Price of rear shocks for elite
« on: 03 July 2008, 12:44:24 »
Just looked at Autobahn Stormers site and this seems too good to be true, a discount of effectively £100 for joining the club for £20 per year? Do vauxhall dealers generally accept the ABS membership card and reduce the price of the spares to the TC price as the site states?

Omega General Help / Price of rear shocks for elite
« on: 03 July 2008, 09:58:58 »
I have just phoned vauxhall for a price on a pair of self levelling rear shocks for my year 2000 elite saloon. They have quoted me £105 + vat each which i thought was a lot of money. Is there anybody with a trade card or other supplier / contact who may be able to help me get a lower price?

Omega General Help / Re: Parts Diagrams
« on: 24 June 2008, 20:46:34 »
No Problem, thanks for the info, although i would have thought that this basic material for GM vehicle owners would not be copywrited, even Porsche allows you to download expolded diagrams for their models.
