Omega General Help / CV rubber boot.
« on: 22 April 2013, 21:03:16 »
Hello all,

I am trying to get hold of some parts for my vehicle and unfortunately not doing to well.

My vehicle is:
Vauxhall omega estate, '51 plate
3.2l elite
auto

The rear passenger side rubber boot on the cv joint (near the wheel, outer?) has split and the grease has leaked out.

Obviously this rubber boot needs changing, the problem is that vauxhall says they don't have any stock of this item and they were of the opinion that no more parts will be made, euro car parts website also shows now stock and an unknown time period until any stock arrives.

Can anyone recommend a supplier of good quality parts, preferably a kit that contains the rubber boot, grease, clips etc.

How easy is it to change this part? Should i change both rears at the same time?

As always, Many, many thanks in advance.

Singh

The aa man did attach a computer to the car but he said that nothing specific was coming up, his hunch was that the crank sensor had gone.....

Sorry but what is the pedal trick?

Omega General Help / Crank case sensor
« on: 13 April 2012, 16:28:31 »
Hi everyone,

Ive just been told by the AA man that my crank sensor has failed.

I had to call them to have a look at the car as it wont start, the engine turns over but it just doesnt start.

He wasnt entirely sure what was up with car but stated that its most likely that the crank sensor has failed so not allowing the engine to start.

Is this an accurate diagnosis?? He actually only spent around 10mins looking around the car and seemed pretty baffled.

Where is this sensor located and how easy is it to replace?

Thanks in advance everyone

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Repeated flat battery
« on: 22 March 2012, 19:16:39 »
Hiya all,

My omega keeps on draining its battery. I have replaced the battery to a new high quality bosch item but the problem remains.  If the vehicle hasnt been driven even for 3-4 days then when i return the completely charged battery is completely flat. I think it may be due in part to the alarm as it starts beeping three times when the engine is turned off after a short drive and then going off randomly....

Any ideas on how i can remedy this?

Thanks in advance

Omega General Help / Alternatives to Vx parts
« on: 20 March 2012, 19:32:49 »
Hi everyone,

I have been advised that my omega estates lower wishbones and track rod ends need replacing.

I have enquired at main dealer and have been quoted some very high prices.

Can anyone advise on alternative replacement brands which are cheaper but still excellent quality.

Thanks in advance

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Permanently on interior light
« on: 01 March 2010, 22:29:36 »
I have a strange problem with my omega ('51 plate omega estate elite). Upon returning to the car one morning, the interior light next to the sunroof control switch is now permanently on. It doesnt dim/switch off/on when the doors are opened/closed, i have been forced to remove the two bulbs. At the same time the two seperate individual map reading lights are now not working at all.

I have checked the operation of the headlamp switch (pulling it out/pushing it in) but this makes no difference. The sidelamps/headlamps/door puddle lights all operate correctly.

Has anyone got any ideas what could be going on???

Thanks in advance

Omega General Help / Starting problem on a 3.2l v6 omega
« on: 16 August 2010, 15:32:44 »
Hi all,

Please could could I have a bit of help with the following:

After having my car serviced its developed a bit of a strange problem. When I try to start the vehicle the engine will not turn over easily and fails to start. When the key is held in the start position a number of times for approx 4-5secs it will ALWAYS eventually start. The alarm sometimes starts pipping while I am trying to start the car and sometimes I have the dubious pleasure of having the alarm sounding while im driving down the rd. It does this whether the engine is cold or hot, if the car has been turned off for a few mins it will start easier but it still sounds "strained". The battery is a quality bosch item less than 3 months old. Im a bit stumped as its only started doing this after being serviced and the battery is in good condition as it can eventually turn the engine a number of times. Any advice would be appreciated as I dont want to go back to the garage!!

Thanks in advance

Omega General Help / Greasy situation.........
« on: 21 March 2008, 20:28:09 »
Hello all,

I have just purchased a 51 plate 3.2 v6 omega estate and was hoping to give it a oil/filter/plug service today, However I cant seem to locate were the oil filter goes!!

I purchased one off vauxhall and it appears to be a bare paper/plastic type rather than the more usual "metal can". I have replaced similar looking types on a merc that i had, but I cant find the housing where these types usually go.......

A rather basic question i know but any help would be appreciated.
