i have had a similar problem recently 
, and the garage said the box was shafted! After being told that a recon box would set be back £1500, I managed to pick up a 2nd hand box for less than £100 and now there is no problem 8-)

hi there i've got a '97 3.0 elite and the auto box is shafted! After finding that a recon box is going to cost £1500 i a looking for a donor vehicle. Will a box from a different sized engine omega fit?
I spoke to a main dealer and they said that vauxhall only use two different auto boxes (not sure how true this is!) but i am non the wiser as to which models use which box
Can anyone help??

Thanks for that. I have just had the same prob on mine, back break metal on metal and caliper seized, will blow the dust off of it with the compressor

hi ya, i'm after some advice... I've got a 97 miggy elite with the 3.0 V6 lump, and i bought it with little if any history!! 
Clearly it is in my best interest to have the Cam belt changed but this is quoted at around £350 at the local garage. Does anyone know how difficult a job it is to do it myself? I'm not a complete numpty when it comes to mechanics, but i have never done one before!!

speaking of being breathalised, i used to work as a delivery driver for a kebab shop - regularily driving a beat up old fiesta around in the early hours of the morning. I was once pulled over three times in a night and breathlised twice!! 
the copper really was not amused the second time around (now about 2:30am) when i asked him if he wanted to save some of my tax money and i'll use the same tube as was given to me earlier!!
